So, there are those bands one loves and those that just kick your butt. You know what I'm talking about. That band that just resonates with you in so many ways and in so many moods. That band for me is God is an Astronaut. Consummate musicians and killer artists. I highly recommend you listen and actually buy their music! It's worth every dime.

Europa is wonderful. Rosetta's first cd, The Galilean Satellites, was pretty epic, it was two disc... First disc was music, and the second disc was ambient, and they could be listened to separately or together. Might be a little heavier for your tastes, but Rosetta is another wonderful Post-punk ambient kinda band with some metal shot into the mix. |

Love this band too, love their music, even have all their albums, but even I have to admit it's one of the worst band names of all freakin' time, followed closely by Godspeed you! Black Emperor.
BTW, y'ever hear of a New Zealand band called Jakob? Similiar, but simpler, less ethereal, bit of a harder edge at times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q727j...eature=related Or Mono, Russian Circles, The Samuel Jackson Five (greatest band name of all time), and Grails. I could name others. |

Mhmm, I know Pelican, they're not too bad. I've been in a post rock swing for awhile... Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Russian Circles, Tenhi, Te', Selfkill, Bossk... I just recently first listened to Sigur Ros (don't know why I waited so long) but they're quickly becoming my favorite group.

yeah, i've seen sigur ros, mono and GIAA in concert. All incredible. I love Russian Circles, etc. I write for an online magazine that reviews all these types of bands and interviews them
you all should check out Hammock. jonsi from Sigure Ros has taken a liking to them and did their last album cover. Marc Byrd is a great guy (hammock) and should be supported www.hammockmusic.com By the way, I love GIAA's name because it has a great meaning. If you watch their videos, you will catch it if you think carefully. Basically, they protest the use of science for destructive means. For example, using the tech in the space program to produce nuclear missles. Hence, man acting like a god, man being an astronaut and therefore the name. I like it. |
