Gaming Tapas

This has been a sort of schizophrenic gaming month for me. I generally will pick a game and play it to completion....or at least as far as I plan on progressing in the game. However, this month, I've been doing my best Peter Rabbit impersonation, hopping from game to game to game; taking small portions like at a Tapas restaurant. However, I have been able to still complete a couple of games (and the month is not over just yet).
Anyway, first up was Peggle: Dual Shot (DS) ![]() Okay, this is a bit of a cheat. I only finished "Peggle" not "Peggle Nights" which is also included in this package. I really appreciate this game for it's pick an play nature. Additionally, it was one game that I felt completely comfortable giving to my young cousin-nieces (they're cousins, but so young they're like nieces). They got a kick out of it and the youngest (3), was so intense while she was playing it that I couldnt help but smile. Unfortunately, it seemed like the later "mystery" levels were pretty much dumb luck. Choosing the correct character certainly helps, but I felt my influence was minimized. I'm not certain when or even if I'll tackle "Peggle Nights" but I expect it'll be more of the same. Secondly, I spent some time with Sam & Max: Season 1 ![]() Picked this at the end of last month when Telltale put it on sale for five bucks. I'm a big fan of adventure games. I'll say that the Sam & Max games are better for their comedic writing than the adventuring part. Most of the puzzles seemed to have a straight forward solution and I mostly breezed through the episodes...at least til the last two. There were a couple of points that had me scrambling for a FAQ hint. Maybe I was just weary from days and days of shoveling snow. Either way, I enjoyed the game and look forward to playing Season 2 soon. Third up was X-men Origins: Wolverine ![]() This was a highly touted game from last summer. I hadnt played a whole lot of beat 'em ups this gen, but coming off Bayonetta, I was looking for more hack 'n slash. Unfortunately, despite the critical acclaim, Wolverine just did nothing for me. I only finished the first two (of five) chapters, but I just feel no desire to continue. After basically fighting the same boss/mini-boss creatures where the "win" move is just to avoid their attacks and jump on their back, I just got bored. I dont care even a little bit about the story (I read the 'Weapon X' comic as a teen ) and the combat has just gotten stale to me. Perhaps this would have been fine last summer, but after Bayonetta, I'm just unenthusiastic. The final tapas on my table isnt quite a tapas. It's Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. ![]() Havent come close to finishing this game. According to the game clock, I'm about 15hrs in. Though my son was messing with my DS so I think it was open and counting up time when really it was not being played. I'm sure my playthrough will be somewhere in the 40+ hr range, which means it'll be at least about April before I finish this one. Thanks for reading! |
