I mentioned how I didn't purchase as many new games as usual in January because of how great Feb. 2010 was going to be. Well, I definitely purchased quite a bit of games. Last month was mostly Wii, this month is mostly PS3. Each week in February had a game I wanted to buy, which hasn't happened since 2006 (when so many JRPGs were coming out). My game playing has also increased quite a bit due to many games, so I have many impressions/thoughts on games.

White Knight Chronicles came from GameStop using store credit. Dante's Inferno was bought on Amazon w/ release date delivery and used my $10 off from TVC on Wii. Star Ocean: The Last Hope International, Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce, and Heavy Rain (where I used my $10 from Dante's Inferno on) all came from Amazon. Blue Dragon (which I felt like playing again and kind of missed) and Persona were also bought cheap on Amazon ($15 and $22.70 respectively). I bought Gundam Seed Collection Volume 2 due to finishing the first collection, and badly wanting to see the rest (I watched Gundam Seed long ago, but missed pretty much every episode after 20). I purchased Full Metal Alchemist Season 1 box set since I really like Full Metal Alchemist, and got a good deal on Amazon for it (like $35). Mana Khemia 2 was a gutted game at GameStop, but I had no choice to buy it since it was becoming hard to find new (the game at least was sealed, box wasn't). Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing I had preordered before playing the demo (since I somehow really wanted it) at GameStop, using store credit I had from previous trade-in deals. I had Last Rebellion on PS3 preordered on Amazon, but I decided to cancel even if I could get the game for $40.

In other pick-ups, I also purchased a Naruto Wall-scroll, various AE T-Shirts, Hoodie, and Polo, and Rave Master for $2 at FYE (I use to watch it on Cartoon Network). I just picked up that Kingdom Hearts T-Shirt because I felt it looked really awesome (like my Sora wallet). I didn't get a deal on it, but KH stuff never goes on sale and normally my T-Shirt size goes fast and I can't find it after a month. I also have a Hershey Park ticket in the picture. I always wanted to go there, but I'll probably end up going alone (unless I come across others at work going and willing to ride stuff with me).

While I did not complete a game in Feb. (unlike Jan. where I completed a few), I am spending quite a bit of time with a few games.

White Knight Chronicles is a game that didn't get so hot reviews, and even I was becoming a tad uncertain about it. But due to wanting the game since 2006, I took a chance, and VERY glad I did. There's no denying the battle system took some time getting use to (I like it now, although it does have a few hiccups) and some tearing in the game can be annoying, I'm absolutely loving it. While the story may be quite familiar to many other JRPGs, I really enjoy it and find the characters very likeable. I found a few cutscenes to be touching. I also enjoy the music, but its far from being some of the best. I've already put 17 hours into in just over 2 weeks, which is pretty good for me. I'm definitely hooked and want to keep playing it. Unfortunately, I have yet to play online.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International is what I'm mostly playing now. I had it on 360 and put 14 hours into it. I stopped not because I hated the game, I just got a bit annoyed by the noise my 360 DVD drive made while playing during cutscenes and hearing about the PS3 version features were going to make me switch. So far I'm glad I made the switch. One main reason is the ability to use the Japanese Anime artwork. IMO, it suits the game way better and gives the characters more emotion. Battle system is fun and oh course I enjoy the storyline (although far from being epic so far). I already surpassed the 360 version in time putting 16 hours into it since I had it (made it to where I left off on 360 in 13 hours, same level for my characters).

Dante's Inferno has only gotten 1 hour. It should don fine, but I will say what I like and don't. I enjoy the combat for sure, but I do feel the QTEs are more annoying than fun. Not a big fan of its story direction, but the gameplay is still mostly fun so it should be fine.

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce only got a short play time (use to have it on PSP until I switched to PS3), but I see myself playing it a lot more one I get through some JRPGs and more friends buy it (I just love DW games). Mana Khemia 2 and Persona haven't been opened or touched yet. Heavy Rain was opened and I installed it, but need to play it, not sure when. I REALLY loved the demo and can't wait to play though it sometime, but I kind of hate to interrupt the time I'm putting into two RPGs right now.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing was a game I was wanting for a long time, even if it had a high chance of getting terrible reviews/impressions. I wanted it because I absolutely loved Sega Superstars Tennis (which the same developers, Sumo Digital made), love Sega characters (I still really like Sonic), and I just love kart racing. I was a bit surprised to hear some positive impressions, so I went ahead and preordered. Once the demo went live on XBL Marketplace, I downloaded it. At first I had some trouble, but once I got use to the controls I enjoyed it. Downloaded it on PS3 also and liked it. I was a bit surprised by its reviews (getting 8's). So, I played the game the first day I got it. All I gotta say is that I'm hooked and absolutely LOVE the game. There's no denying there's some framerate issues on some courses and when many characters are on-screen at once, along with the A.I. being a bit brutal at times and annoying announcer. Everything else I love. The characters are great, controls are great (and fun), courses are VERY interesting. I even got 22% of the trophies right now. If I'm not playing SO4 or WKC, it's the game I want to play most right now. I have yet to play online (no friend of mine has bought it yet). Regardless, I just love the game and see it lasting a long time in my collection. Can't say if I love it as much or more as Mario Kart Wii, but it's awesome.

Anyway, those are my February pick-ups and game impressions. Expect to see a flood of JRPGs in March. I have a lot to play right now and already planning on getting Bad Company 2 and Lunar: Harmony of the Silver Star next week.

You bought a lot of games!

I had planned to buy 4 new releases in February but instead bought only two in BioShock 2 and Heavy Rain. However, I also bought inFamous in order to get that Platinum I promised myself. Managed to attain the Rockhound trophy after 7 hours of scrounging the city.

I want that Sega Kart game but I can't justify paying $67 CAN for it.

@blackjaw, probably sometime in March or April. Need more time after reading all replies.

Nice anime pickups. FMA FTW!!!!

I'm tempted to buy Season 2 of FMA for the same price.

You can watch the new, revamped season of FMA for free on the Funimation website. Quality is great, Japanese dub, and only 2-3 days difference between when it's aired in Japan and posted online.

It's really similar to the original for the first ~10 episodes. But it definitely moves faster, IMO. Watch both -- you won't be disappointed!

@Ecofreak, I buy certain DVDs so I can watch them somewhere (where I can't access internet to watch movies and stuff).

@Ecofreak - I haven't watched FMA Brotherhood yet, so correct me if I'm wrong. But doesn't Brotherhood follow the manga more closely? If so, that's great because the story in the manga is vastly superior to the story of the original FMA anime IMO.
@TMK Glad you are watching FMA. It is a good anime series. I am not sure about Gundam Seed. It is a good anime but I wonder if Sunrise is just keep doing the same thing over and over again. This is about the colonies going against earth. It seems like a recycled story even in live action shows.

I was also wondering if White Knight Chronicles was a good game to buy. I have to wait a little bit because of things right now for me but I am going to wait until it gets cheaper.

this isnt to TMK, but to people in general.

you guys buy all these games, do you have the time to actually play all of them? and beat them? and watch the movies you buy?
The Mana Knight's Avatar
@aosora13, yeah, the stories seem to be a bit similar, but one main reason I like Seed so much is because Kira & Athrun are a lot like me and can relate to them. I do like WKC personally.

@IRHari, some games get beaten. Some games get good playtime but not beaten. Some games just get lost in the shuffle and never recover, so I end up ditching them.

Nice pickups there. Are you going to print a different cover for Heavy Rain?

Also, do you have a Wii? I just mine up and running. Friend code exchange?
The Mana Knight's Avatar
@ Devil May Cry, Yes, I own a Wii (two of them, although different locations). I just have to look up my friend code, but will be a while because I'm having issues getting it online (my router settings somehow changed and screwed up all my static IPs on devices).
