Review: Sumo Sway Couple

Let’s face it - if you’re playing a videogame, you’re going to need a place to sit. Otherwise, you’re just going to be awkwardly flailing about and ultimately tuckering yourself out. Then you’re really going to need a place to sit. Sumo Lounge has pinpointed this need and offers up a complete line of products compatible with gamers’ asses. New to their assortment of leisure furniture is the Sumo Sway. I was sent one. I sat upon it. Here are my thoughts.
Weighing in at 50 lbs and built for two, the Sumo Sway is a beast of a bean bag. Unlike traditional cheap bean bags, though, this won’t leave your house littered with Styrofoam pellets. Sumo’s are stuffed with Polyester Fiber and as a result are serious pieces of durable furniture. This is not a lump of fabric and stuffing; the Sway actually has form to it and a curved back that’s relaxing on the spine. While this is definitely the kind of chair that one luxuriously sinks into, there’s still a nice amount of support. Perfect for intense slothing, it’s the kind of comfort that kept me comatose in gameplay for several hours. The Sway is offered in a variety of colors and two different fabrics: microsuede and corduroy. I went with the “Funky Brown” microsuede because it matches our other furniture and I thought it would be easier to clean. We have three cats and I knew they’d think this was a giant cat bed (and they do), so I was hoping the fabric would aid in controlling the inevitable cat shedding. On the downside, the chair attracts a lot of cat hair, especially with two cats laying on it at once. On the plus side, it cleans up very easily using a standard vacuum cleaner attachment or a lint brush. The microsuede feels high quality, is aesthetically pleasing, and it seems like it’s going to be very durable. If you’re thinking about purchasing a Sumo Sway Couple, you should be aware that these are pretty stationary chairs. Since they are so large and squishy, moving them about can be unwieldy. It can be done, but this isn’t the kind of thing you are going to want to consistently pull around. The chair is marketed as being large enough for two people, and it is, but both Mrs. Shipwreck and I agree that it’s more comfortable as a one person affair if you’re trying to game. As a gaming chair, the Sumo Sway Couple is top of the line. It’s cushy, easy to clean, and actually looks like an acceptable, adult piece of furniture. I’ve been buying a lot of other furniture for my house lately and I can say this is a quality bean bag that is priced right. Very Good Outstanding | Very Good | Fair | Poor | Awful Recommended Buy Price: $279.00 Current MSRP: $279.00 The Sumo Sway Couple was provided for review by Sumo Lounge. They offer free shipping and you can check out their complete line of products at www.sumolounge.com. |

That chair doesn't look like two people can sit on it comfortably. But the single person version still costs $249. Might as well pay the extra $30.

I haven't had the opportunity to sit in a Sumo brand sac, but I have sat in something comparable and much more expensive. These things are super comfortable and extremely nap friendly. If I wasn't going to move in a year, I would buy one, but as Ship mentioned they are quite unwieldy and a pain in the ass to move.

I've never sat in a sumo sac, but I have heard these love sacs are supposed to be the best of the best.

I just recently picked up a Fatboy Original at about $229 and I love it. Just another option if one is looking for a comfortable chair for gaming sessions.

Nice review, seems like a good option for a dedicated game room or bedroom.

Seems a little steep in price to justify a "Very Good," but it does look comfortable. Good to see that the cats have claimed it as their own.

I can't see how 2 people would fit on that. Looks comfy for 1 though.
