My thoughts on the Ladies Evo Tournament |
993 views |
![]() DF+LK into U2 is BS. I'm just sayin'. Evo 2010 decided to have a Women's only SSF4 tournament. They were also required to entered the regular tournament to enter the women's side. Now I'm reading all these posts about feminism and equality on SRK and whether or not they "deserved" a tournament. What the hell? It's a videogame tournament. You know, as someone who actually went to the tournament and actually talked to these girls (which is trippy when I think about it, 'cause I have no game, how did I come to know these people?!), they all seemed pretty enthusiastic about it. They liked it. And that was in real life. No one was staring down the girls or making obscene and obnoxious comments, unlike what was going on in the stream. In real life they were treated as one of us in the community. Can't say the same with what was going on on the internet. Besides, the tournament was in Vegas which was already teeming with hot girls, why would they keep themselves limited to only SF girls? I can't speak for the quality of play. I actually don't like watching SF4, male or female. But IMO it shouldn't even matter and they should have no standard to live up to. I can have a local tournament and we can all suck and none of us are Daigo-like, does that mean I shouldn't be able to play? Why do you have to be good to play? If you don't like it, don't watch. I didn't like watching anything. I didn't even stay for SF4 finals. (Not to mention, during pool play, there were some terrible matches on the big screen. Can't be discriminating like that.) Bottom line: it did what it intended to do. Stop overanalyzing it. Come talk to them in real life instead of making snarky comments in chatrooms and you'll see that reality is completely different. |

Can you please spoiler tag that NSFW image? Or are you "too cool" to spoiler tag?

That "chick" looks like dude. Ur rigththough. Feminism has no place at these tournaments. It is the women's free will to dress that way because they enjoy it. Otherwise they wouldn't do it. That goes for cosplayers world wide.

@E*Master: I think you completely missed what the article was talking about.
@bardockkun: I met that Juri cosplayer last year. She was a huge prima donna. I didn't like her at all. The girl in teal in the middle has a pretty decent Blanka, she did pretty well in a local tournament I had... it was 24 people, with a round robin of groups of 6, the top 2 in each group advancing to a single elim event, and she managed to make it to the finals. @comments about spoiler tagging: That's NSFW? Where do you work, church? People have more revealing girls in their signatures. I resized it just so you guys can feel more comfortable about being turned on. |

Ah fair enough, but enough people whining I figured might as well give some kinda offbeat solution. Plus cosplayer's giving drama always reminds me of my ex...
