While the rest of the Summer of Arcade lineup seems like a mixed bag for the $15 that each game will cost, Limbo is offering something that's a bit different to kick off the entire promotion. Limbo is a side-scrolling platformer that is more of an adventure game in that you're mostly solving puzzles, avoiding traps, and exploring the world that PlayDead Studios has created with very little in the way of combat. This is the first of many silhouette platformers to come, so at least the first game in this new trend sets a high bar for the followers to try to top.

Limbo

"Though you could reference a few games that Limbo seems to be like, it offers an exciting and surreal experience that is wholly unique to Limbo. It took us just under five hours to beat the game the first time and the achievements offer some decent replay value, though this isn’t the kind of game where your purchasing decision should revolve around the amount of content it offers. If you’ve seen the trailers and have bought into the experience, it’s definitely worth the 1200 points ($15) that Limbo costs while those that are still on the fence should definitely check out the demo first."

Limbo for the Xbox 360 received a Buy It recommendation. You can read the full review over at SmashPad.

Oh man, I CANNOT wait. Limbo looks absolutly beautiful! I've been looking forward to this since I saw the first preview with the spider chasing the main character. I'm looking forward to almost all of the games. I'm a little iffy on the Lara Croft game, but basically free? Who can argue?

Thanks for the review! Woohoooooo! This summer is killing me...

These 5, Deathspank, AC II DLC sale, etc etc. I'm going to be broke soon...

If and when CAG gets more serious about a review staff, FriskyTanuki should be part of it.
