Kinect is the Best Deal

With forum trolls and ps3 / wii fanboys bashing the price of microsoft's Kinect, they need to sit down, shut up, and realize that the price is actually pretty good. It's actually a much better deal than the competitors, and far more advanced than a wagglemote or a wagglemote wannabe ripoff.
Here is a comparison of the prices if you are a new console owner: ![]() and if you currently own the consoles...: ![]() inb4kinectisatrashgimmick inb4uramicrosoftfanboy inb4(insertstupidcommenthere) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Move and Natal are equally stupid. No fanboyism here.

i agree both arent really worth my time, but u dont need those nav controllers for the ps3, so its 150 for kinect & move
plus i also think sony will release a move bundle that will cost less than each item on its own |

Who cares? The move, kinect and the wii are all a joke. You can really only play stupid cartoony games. Motion control is cool and all, but none of these are worth the money.

it is true that you don't "need" the nav controller for the ps3 but then you would have to use the controller in one hand and the dildo in the other, and i'm not sure how comfy that would be.

These new controls are way to expensive, I bet they will drop in place alot over the first year.

I would also argue that you don't actually need the Wii Balance Board.

I'm confused about the second graph. Why did you include a nunchuk and balance board? and on the ps3 side 2 nav controls? And one thing your chart doesn't show is that for your $300 you're getting a 4gb 360 which cannot be upgraded.

I agree with Viper139, I think the prices are going to come down quite a bit pretty quickly. My problem isn't with the price of the devices themselves (I mean, all new technology comes out at a premium and eventually drops) but the fact I really don't need them. I have the Wii and I enjoy playing Wii Sports and stuff on ocassion, but I don't really need any more motion control games, the Wii has me covered.
I may get Kinect and Move once the price comes down later on, if there are games I really, really, want to play, but for now, the Wii is enough. |

This blog freakin wreaks of the pot (Poker360) calling the kettle black. What we have here is simply a 360 fanboy ripping on other fanboys while trying to justify the ridiculous pricing of the motion controls on his console of choice.
This is just another reminder to myself how glad I am to own all 3 consoles so I don't make fanboy blogs like these. We'll see how good of a price Kinect is when the sales figures come out. Why do both of the graphs show the wii balance board. That is something that is needed for very few games last time I checked. Is it included to jump the price way up to make Kinect look like a better deal? Move and Kinect are both way too expensive, one advantage Nintendo had is releasing motion controls included with the console from the start. I'm not trying to back Nintendo in this argument because I am strongly against motion controls in general. But really Nintendo has the best price for motion controls. So there should be a graph where it has the prices for just one person in which case the Wii is $200 versus $300 for the 360 (which includes a whopping 4 GB storage I believe). |

bg88, the wii needs the balance board to match the features of what kinect can offer. This graph is useful because a lot of people are using the price of move or the wii to denigrate Kinect, when in fact, it's cheaper or on par in the same usage scenarios. If you plan on buying all 3 solutions or none of them, this graph is not meant for you.

@ bg88
Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm sick of these Xbox 360 fanboys thinking it's O.K. for them to slurp Microsoft but not O.K. for somebody else to slurp Sony or Nintendo. Well, if they need to feel better about themselves for spending more than they should... Anyway, I can't wait for poker360's YouTube videos where he plays Kinect games. |

If you need the balance board to meet kinect's features AND you're doing this for MP, shouldn't there be TWO balance boards in that picture? Tack another $100 onto that price!!!

The ps3 has a 120gb hard drive instead of a 4gb. We must match the 360s features so add the cost of a 4gb hard drive, I'll guess 20, $20 to ps3 and lets add $30 for installation fees. The 360 also comes with a headset so let's tack on $50 to the ps3 for a blue tooth headset and $30 for wiispeak. I'm practically losing money by not buying Kinect. Math!

I would've liked someone to come up with an original, useful idea for the gaming industry instead of copying nintendo to the point of hilarity.

The balance board skews your results and invalidates your argument IMO.

kinect copies the wii? haha last time i checked you can't even play movies or anything on the wii, one of the cool features with kinect is voice recognition to navigate dashboard / movies / etc. Not even mentioning the controlling of a wii game with a wagglemote is nothing like kinect.
as for those who are talking about the balance board, with kinect you can play your shape or whatever just with the camera, with the wii you pretty much need the balance board to play fitness games. |

I really hate all motion controls. They should all die. If I enjoyed them. I might actually play my Wii.

I already have the eye toy, + I will only be buying Playstation Move for 1 person, thus I won't need to purchase a whole other set.
Also, I only need to buy 1 playstation console because it doesn't break every 60 days, unlike the 360. |
