Well, I managed to make it through a week without buying a game
Although it didn't buy any games I did buy something I have wanted to buy for a little while and had been trying to find for several weeks and that was: IPad 32gb 3G I was only planning to get the 16gb since I don't really need the extra space, but no stores in my area have had any since it was first launched. I happened to check Best Buy's website Friday and noticed they had it In stock at one of the stores, so I hurried out and was able to pick one up. It turned out the one I bought had several dead pixels, so I went back on Sunday to return it. Most of them were hardly visible but the one was very noticeable and in the middle of the screen ( it was the first thing I saw when I turned it on) so I decided I should nuts exchange it. The new one seems to be fine. So far i really like it and have pretty much used it nonstop since I opened it. I love the larger screen, the keyboard is great (I'm using it now) battery life is great, it is very quick and there are tons of great apps. I was nervous as first and thought I should maybe wait to make sure it was something I really need, but I couldn't be happier now. As for gaming progress I didn't get much done last week. I started playing A Bugs Life for the original Playstation and finished it up last night (had to pull myself away from the iPad first So that is all for this week! Thanks for reading ![]() |

Did you get the wifi only one or the one that has 3g. I was thinking about buying a netbook for school this year but i think this might be a better idea at only $500

I went with the 3G just because there aren't too many places that I go that have wifi and I wanted the option to be able to go online when I wanted. It was worth the extra money for me.
As for the iPad vs. A net book I have both and they both have their pros and cons. The iPad actually is a lot quickere, in my opinion. I hardly ever used my old net book because it was so slow, but I have used nothing but the iPad since I got it because it is quick enough that it doesn't bother me. On the other hand, with the net book you have the keyboard built in, don't have the issues with flash, etc. So, it all a depends on what you are wanting it for and what you will be using it for. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me and I will see if I can help! |

I have to say, I'm very impressed with it so far (I'm on my regular computer now, so I can go into a little more detail
After getting it, all my concerns are gone. To be honest, I mostly got it to replace my computer on the weekend, I normally don't turn them on because I'm hardly home, but I like being able to check e-mails, read the news, etc. but it isn't worth turning my computer on to spend a few minutes online, plus, I kind of like doing it while I'm watching TV or something, so I like something portable, but my laptops are all pretty heavy and not ideal for using on your lap. Now that I have it, however, I think there is a good chance that I may use the iPad more than my computer, unless I have a lot of stuff I need to do and a computer would be more comfortable or allow for multitasking. I really didn't even need to turn my computer on today, but I finally drained the battery on the iPad. I did have some concerns with the iPad itself such as: Internet speed: My biggest complaint with the iPod Touch, my Blackberry and netbooks is that they are slow. I was thinking this would be the same type situation and using them in store they were also pretty slow, so I had no idea what they would be like once out of the store. Now that I've used it, the speed of the web is very impressive. I have pretty fast computers and high speed internet, so I'm used to things loading pretty quickly which makes me very impatient with mobile devices. While the iPad is not as fast as my computer, it is very quick and I don't have an issues with it. Keyboard: I still plan to get a bluetooth keyboard or possibly Apple's iPad dock, but the virtual keyboard, especially in landscape mode, works great. When I type on my iPod Touch I make more mistakes than I get right and I mostly thought it was because I prefer having physical keys because I don't have any issue with my Blackberry. However, with the iPad keyboard, I can type pretty quickly and don't make near the mistakes as I make on my iPod and most of the time I can type without looking, I was very surprised with how quickly I learned to use it. Battery life: I have found that my iPod Touch can have a somewhat limited battery life, it isn't a huge deal, but I just have to watch because once it gets a little low it seems to drain fast. I used the iPad for about a day and a half on one full charge, never turned the wireless off and was downloading apps, surfing the web, listening to music, etc. I'm very happy with the battery life and I would say with heavy use I wouldn't even need to charge every day. Speaker: With the iPod Touch, the sound comes from the dock connector, so it can sound a bit tinny at times and it isn't too loud. However, the iPad has an actual speaker and it is actually quite impressive. I typically use a an Altec Lansing dock for my iPod and Zune and have been so impressed with it that I tend to be more picky with speakers than I used to be. I actually listened to a lot of music throughout the day and was very happy with the quality. I could easily see myself using it while I'm working on something out and just having the music play. With the iPod the speaker was a nice addition over the first generation, but wasn't anything great it was mostly just there for times when you didn't want headphones, but the iPads is very decent quality. I also love the big screen. The iPod Touch still has its benefits and if I want something I can throw in my pocket and go it works well, but I always hated trying to navigate on the tiny screen. The screen of the iPad is a great size and makes websites easy to use and just makes everything a lot easier. So, before I go on anymore, I will just say I love it. I haven't even bought any apps yet, but I have downloaded several free ones just to try them. I can't wait to start looking into some really good apps and then I will probably never put it down again As for selling your macbook pro, as I said to quickl_one the iPad is great, but it all depends on what you want it for. If you have a newer Macbook, especially, I would really give it a lot of thought before making any decisions. I do think I can get by most days without using my regular computer, but I still like having it there as an option. I'm not sure if you will still have other computers you can use, but definitely think it over and figure out what you use your computer for that you can't use the iPad for. If you can get by without doing those things then you would probably be really happy with the iPad. It is a great device and if the situation is right I think it is a great option. Anyway, hope this helps some and if you have any questions feel free to PM me! |
