My KMart haul

I posted in the KMart thread but I wanted to just have something for myself and just something I could just ramble on about... so here I go.
I've been looking for a PSP I can modify for a short while now. I originally wanted the God of War bundle PSP but they sell for damn near 150 bucks on average for a used PSP that may or may not have been treated well. People who sell modded PSPs want an average of $200 on ebay. Needless to say, this is CheapAssGamer. I wasn't about to buy a random PSP off ebay, hoping to find one in good condition and compatible with what I wanted to do to it but I did seriously consider it out of gaming desperation. Enter KMart with their deal this week. Josh is the man, I saw they had Daxter bundles and the God of War bundles. Well, those two I know work for my intended purpose but the odds of me getting a God of War PSP weren't as good as me getting the Daxter one, I knew that right off the bat. Turns out they had 124 Daxter bundles, 72 GoW bundles and only 2 stores in NJ had 9 Daxter bundles between them which I found out after emailing Josh and him hooking me up with his inventory man Andrew who was great. 6 were in East Brunswick and 3 were in Howell, thankfully I'm familiar with this part of NJ and it's not huge deal for me to drive out there. I probably could have saved myself a trip to East Brunswick by calling ahead but I decided to just drive out there. They didn't have any of the bundles, they only had the Madden ones and I didn't remember the way to determine if they were mod-able or not, nevermind I didn't really want a blue PSP. I raided their clearance and found a PSP battery and the official Sony headphones with the remote. I also decided to cash in that $20 coupon I got from the $50 PSN card I got on Saturday, ended up with Lost Planet 2 for 19.99. It also happened that I met somebody I knew out there from Staten Island, go figure. He works at KMart doing their form of loss prevention, he's very good at his job and the store in East Brunswick is a very clean store, so he has an easy time getting cases there I'm sure. Very nice KMart overall, people were nice and helpful, something of a staple I've become used to in NJ. Anyway, after that I loaded up my purchase and headed out to Howell, stopping for Checkers along the way, they had 2 Spicy Chicken Sandwiches for $3 and I'm a sucker for spicy chicken. They were more peppery than spicy hot, I still prefer Wendy's since I'm not a fan of pepper and mayo. The ride to Howell wasn't too bad, I thought Rt 9 would have turned to complete crap by now as it was like 1:30 or so, got there without much fuss. The Howell KMart looked drab in comparison to the one in East Brunswick, lots more stuff cramped and not as many eye friendly looking people but I found the electronics section without much delay. It took the guy a few moments to come out but I spotted 2 Daxter bundles in the glass counter that they had, when he pulled mine out I realized that they actually had 3. I guess Howell being below Freehold safeguarded my PSP from all the deranged PSP buyers out there but they had a sticker on the glass saying the PSP was for $129.99 along with 2 different DS bundles. I picked up a 2 gig memory card in addition to the PSP, it being clearanced at $7.99 didn't seem like a bad idea. And that really ended my day, I got my PSPs, went to PetSmart and headed home to post this. Yay me! |

Some great deals there, nice job!
Kmart can be a great store for finding deals. I really wish I had found CAG before I moved to Florida because the Kmart I lived by back home was only a few minutes away and was a very nice store. I had found a few really good deals there by accident over the years, but if I actually knew what to look for there is no telling what I might have found. The one I'm near now is about 30 minutes away and is rather spooky to shop in, so I've only gone about 3 or 4 times. Enjoy the new PSP and all the goodies. Daxter is a really fun game, I was having a lot of fun with it, but I got stuck on it and haven't gone back to try and beat it for a while now. |
