In this four part series, I'm going to be running down what my thoughts were on e3. Today I'm going to talk about Sony's showing of exclusives coming to the PS3.

Part 3 will cover the 360, and part 4 will be a wrap up of multiplatform and the final verdict...

Sony: "Here's some cool stuff... and some other stuff. So many screens"

"Hey, are you guys going to need all of those TV's? Can I have one"

Although e3 on a whole was quite disappointing, gamers do have a lot to be excited about. There was something for everyone. It was a bit shooter heavy, but that seems to be the trend these days.

When it comes to the console wars, it seems necessary to take special precautions against stirring up the anger of fanboys...

[Flame Precautions]

I do not own a PS3, I do not own a 360. I did have an Xbox, and now I own a PS2. I'm just a gamer who hasn't gone next gen, yet. I will probably end up owning both a 360 and a PS3 in the future sometime, but for now, I'm just an observer. Not owning these systems does not prevent me from having an opinion. Thank you

I have to admit that I didn't watch the press conference. I missed the original airing, and then read that it wasn't that impressive. So in order to avoid speaking out of turn, I'll stick to just discussing the games that interested me.

God of War III
We don't know much about GoW III except that its coming, but not this year. Hopefully, we will get some more information in the coming months...

Killzone 2
The original Killzone wasn't all that impressive, but it seems the developers have taken their time to create a graphical masterpiece this time around. It looks absolutely amazing.

My only problem with this game is the development time... I'm not really sure why the developers took so long making this game... why not tone down the scope of the game and release it sooner. I guess you can't blame them for putting on some extra polish. However, in about the time it has taken Guerrilla games to make this one game, Insomniac has created Resistance 1 & 2... Which brings us to...

Resistance 2

Wow, just wow... This video says it all. The epic scale of the fight is just crazy amazing...

Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
The Ratchet and clank series is great. The newest entry is going to be cheaper, but also shorter.

I think this is a good idea. Its a great opportunity for gamers who wish to play a game, but not spend $60 on the outset. Keep an eye on this one, as we are seeing more this type of development catching on.

Massive Action Game (MAG)
There were a lot of people criticizing this one for just being a showcase of a bunch of people fighting. One shouldn't be so quick to criticize it though... the premise might be a little generic, but the idea of over 250 players fighting a giant war is impressive. The success or failure of M.A.G. will heavily depend on how well the game is made, and the community. It's a proof of concept that may have a significant technical effect down the road.

Little Big Planet
A.K.A.: Best of Show.
The premise of LBP is something that should make the retro gamer in all of us leap for joy. Just when you thought that developers had relinquished side scrolling to small online titles... here comes Little Big Planet. This is a true 'next gen' title that encompasses the best of 2d platforming, user created content, and undeniable cuteness.

"I can has?"

This game will provide players with a metric ton of content. 50+ developer generated levels and hundreds of user created levels... Sign me up.

Well... that wraps up my impressions from Sony's showing for exclusives on the PS3 at e3.

In part three of this series I'll go in depth about the 360's exclusive offerings this year. In part four I'll wrap with some multiplatform titles and my overall e3 impressions.

Edit: I forgot to mention inFamous... It looks pretty good, a bit like Crackdown + the Force Unleashed. Unfortunately, we won't be seeing it this year.

I have to agree with you on the Ratchet and Clank post. I have never played a RnC game. I almost picked one up this morning, but I wasn't willing to pay $55 (used) for a game I wasn't sure I would enjoy. If they could get it down to even $40 I might look further into it.

Sony did a great job in presentation. They had a rocky start, and most thought they'd fail, but with E3, they confirmed they are far from out of the race, and have a long time ahead of them. All of their systems, even the PS2 are still making them money and still have life in them. Not many other systems can say that. They are here to stay.
The games look great, and they are finally catching up in terms of services.
If the games the first two years on the ps2 compared to the ps2 games the last few years say anything about the ps3's possible evolution, I can't imagine how good the ps3 software and hardware, and games are going to look the next few years.
