Wait. Tell me if you've heard this one before

So, here we were watching some movie trailers over lunch when we stumbled across the new Narnia 3 trailer. After having read and been disappointed with the books as a kid, the movies haven't really caught my attention. The trailer music did however, because I had heard it before...

Part way through at about 1:22, I recognize the music. It happens in the Mass Effect 2 launch trailer at about 1:37 in:

After playing them back to back, my coworkers did not believe they were exactly the same song. Thanks, Spike D. Punch. Your blog post helped figure this one out. They are probably both the same song from Two Steps from Hell.

Originally from my own blog, here. Wish I could import these over automatically or something.

I wouldn't doubt it. Its very plausible. There are song libraries out on the market that will contain many songs, in varying lengths, and they are all for royalty free use. They are called needle drop libraries.

I'm an audio engineer myself, and having done trailer production, I have used these libraries several times simply because you don't have the time to create your own music. Most times, I'll be lucky if I have 12 hours to put audio to a 1-2 minute clip.

It's super convenient and very legal, but the downside is that undoubtably other people are going to use the same music. I've seen it happen frequently, but often if that's the case, i'll just suggest to the producer we change and I pick another song.

They are the same. I recognized it too.

Can't blame them for using that music, it's good stuff. Narnia is stupid though.

Oh, I thought I had read something about there not being another Narnia movie since they didn't do as well as expected. Can't say I thought the second was very good, but my wife enjoys them, so I am glad there will be a third at least.
