Extra Life Blog update - Great Job Everyone!

 GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, VIET...I MEAN CHEAP ASS GAMER! As many of you know, 10/16 was a very, very special day. That's right. It was Sweetest Day, your favorite hallmark holiday! Did you tell your significant other how awesome they were? That's not why you are here though, is it? No. You want to know how much money was raised, don't you? So how much money did the star studded CAG team raise? Last year, cheapassgamer.com raised over $5,000. This year, as of 10/17, we have raised... $9,222 (In before "OVER 9000!!!!" joke) Outstanding. Exceptional. Amazingly Awesome. Look at that total! Not only did you almost DOUBLE last year's total, but you have proven, once again, that cheapassgamer is one of the most generous gaming communities on the web. In a world where gaming is often looked upon as an immature hobby fully of 13 year old racists, you have proven that the activity is evolving into a hobby that can be used to make the world a little less sucky. Pat yourself on the back. That is an order. So how about everyone else? Did this trend prove consistent across other gaming communities? In 2008, $120,000 was raised. In 2009, $170,000 was raised. In 2010, as of 10/17, the world raised... $423,877 Holy sh*t. Good job EVERYONE! That is an amazing total that deserves to be recognized. So how did the night go? Personally, I had a hell of a time. Aside from a few problems caused by the new Xbox dashboard beta, the night was full of new friendships, hilarious glitches, and a 4-person Halo Reach CAG team that could not be taken down...in team deathmatch (CTF was a different story). The chat room was also a great time! I appreciate all the "Thank you for putting the team together and running the thread" messages. But without you, I am just a man running a little thread. YOU are what held this team together and made it what it is. You deserve just as much praise as anyone else. EVERYONE INVOLVED - GOOD JOB! About the prizes - Please, feel free to continue donating. What really matters is helping these children out. They are still accepting donations, and they will be for a while (sorry, I'm looking into an exact date ). But because we want to get these prizes out at a decent time (and before the zombie takeover), WE WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING PRIZE ENTRIES (unless clearly stated). Raffles will be completed and prizes will be handed out ASAP! Keep an eye on the thread for updates! And once again... THANK YOU EVERYONE! |
