We're getting more and more sequels nowadays, and for most people that's fine and dandy if their franchises stay the same. But some need to change. Some more than others, mind you. With the retro rebirth of Mega Man, Gradius, and maybe Adventure Island, hopefully we're starting to see this trend of rebirth begin. But quite a few need to go back to the past moreso than ever.
The Legend of Zelda What do you remember about the NES Zelda games? Open worlds, brown swords, game boy screen colored tunics, and creepy old people trying to touch Link, our hero. The original Zelda brought open world gaming to the industry forefront, and as time has passed, the Zelda franchised slowly drifted into Mario country, where you are pointed where to go, level after level, with almost nothing inbetween. No monsters, no hidden areas, linear. Zelda, open your world back up again. Final Fantasy Remember when it was just about saving the world? I do. Final Fantasy, break up with your sick-minded self, get off your ass and beat the villain! I don't care about your feelings. A story's fine and all that, but this series has forgotten that beating the bad guy is more important than how sorry I should feel for him before I stab him in the heart. Castlevania First off, the creator needs to go. He clearly has no idea what he's doing with the series. A "fighter" is a fighter is a fighter. Not a "3d Action game" as he puts it. Castlevania, you've been ruined by horrendous incarnations of your so-called "best in show" game, but that's not what made us fall in love with you. It was Platforming, and not open world platforming either. Level by level platforming, with time limits (which should not be included now), bosses at the end, stairs, and doors that act as loading screens. Sonic the Hedgehog Donkey Kong Seriously, why does Bowser have to be the only one to capture Princess Peach? DK, Mario's gotten soft, thinking he's better than anyone now that he found out he could breathe in space. Come on DK, throw a barrel or two at him (maybe some explosive ones too) and you'll be back on top...until Mario cheats and uses a Hammer...unless you take those. That'd be a good idea. Well, I hope you found these pleas...entertaining to say the least. If you have your own, please comment. Also, if you enjoyed this insane rant, and want to hear more insane rants, please subscribe to this blog, and not the blog entry. Thank you. |

I don't think Igarashi needs to step away from Castlevania, I think he needs Konami to cut him a bigger development budget. I hear Konami is a penny pincher these days.
