I was one of many that jumped on Amazon's Black Ops pre-order offer of $49.99 + $20 promo credit only to have it canceled. Then, I was one of the lucky ones to get Amazon to honor the deal the next day. The CS rep I talked to said I needed to reorder the game at $59.99; then she'll make the price adjustment. I did so and Amazon adjusted my price, as promised. This is where their mistake happened.
Instead of lowering my total to $49.99, the rep INCLUDED the promo credit in the final price. So, my final total was $29.99: ![]() I had thought that this meant I wasn't going to get the promo credit when the game came out. But surely enough, I got an e-mail this morning saying that the $20 was credited to my account. Now that obviously left me with a choice to make: pocket it or return it. To be honest, it wasn't that hard of a choice. I e-mailed Customer Service and asked that they remove the credit from my account: ----- Dear Amazon, Thank you for the great deal on Call of Duty: Black Ops. I was upset when you canceled the original $49.99 + $20 promo deal, but, as always, you guys come through and honor your deal. Please note that my total for this order shows $29.99 so I think the CS rep I e-mailed afterwards just gave me the promo credit in my total instead of lowering it to $49.99. I just got an e-mail today saying I got the $20 promo credit, as well. Please remove the $20 credit from my account. Thank you. Best, William ----- It was about 3:00am in India, but boy, they were fast to reply to this one! Pretty much 5 minutes after I sent the e-mail, I get a reply saying that the credit has been removed. I've had nothing but good dealings with Amazon so the choice to return the promo credit was a no-brainer. Granted, if this was Comcast that made the mistake, I might have had to think a little harder about it! Now all that matters is the game arrived and I can finally resume camping like a little bitch. |

Amazon hooked me up too. I got in on the deal when it was $54.44. I then got an e-mail saying I'd get the $20 credit as well. Plus I had $50 of promo credit to use up so I only actually paid $4.44 for the game, plus I got a $20 credit on top of that. Then, when the game arrived today, it included the laser cel too which my order never said it was coming with, I thought I was too late for that one.

I would've kept it, as they messed up in the first place. I probably would have thought they did it to be nice

Good of you. I'm sure Amazon would have honored it, had you wanted to use it, but +10 Paragon for you!

You're too nice.... if it was the cashier at wal-mart giving me a $20 instead of a $1 bill I would correct the mistake. But taking the initiative to e-mail them and remove the credit is admirable. i wouldn't have done it.
