yes, another GS rant |

had my first bad experience at an otherwise great gamestop today.
so, i walked in thinking the weekly ad was up yesterday. i asked about the HAWX2 deal and if it was still $20. both the manager and rep laughed and asked if i meant the first HAWX. i told them no, i had HAWX and i knew the cover was different. the manager walked over to the game on the wall, and it was still marked as $50 (clearly they don't read their price change memos). he told me there was nothing he could do on price. i told him that if i could find proof, would he honor the price. he, of course, said no. well, i thought, i may be wrong. i just got home and loaded up gs.com, and low and behold, the ad runs out TOMORROW and HAWX2 is listed as 19.99. so now tomorrow, i'm going to go in and claim my copy and take the printed ad with me. it's a shame they didn't even try to ring it up, because i'm sure that would've prompted the deal. oh well, i won't stress it too much. i've gone there for 2 years, and this is the first time i've been given a problem EDIT went back today with the ad after work, and they honored the deal. the funny thing is that after he scanned it, it rang up 19.99. |

It sucks when stuff like that happens. It's even worse when the manager/rep add insult to injury by laughing in your face when you ask them a question. I've had that happen to me a lot, makes me not want to deal with them.
I love when it turns out they're wrong, though. |

I would have forced them to scan the game before leaving the store to check the price.

EBGames did this to me once back in the day, but I went home and brought my ad with me. Once I brought it they not only honored their deal but they threw in a bunch of free swag to make up for my hassle. I doubt Gamestop would do anything like that though.

I like my local GS people as they are super nice to me and seem to be up to date on all the deals and games.
If they would have laughed at me i would have sent an email to GS cause thats just beyond rude and people like that dont need to be working at places like this if this is how they act. But thats just me. |

Before you go down there, you might want to check that ad again. If you click on the photo of the game in the ad, it will go to another page showing you photos of the xbox 360 version and the ps3 version. After you click on one of those it takes you to the price page. On that page it tells you that the $19.99 price is for online orders only.

Yeah, it's always a good idea to have them scan it just to make sure. One GS near me never has the prices that are mentioned on CAG marked, but when I ask them to check the price, it always comes up. This is how it works at most stores(GS, Best Buy, Target), the prices don't need to be changed on the product for the sale to ring up, but if in some cases(K-Mart, Target clearance) they updated pricing has to be activated before it takes effect.

GS is kind of weird about online and in-store prices. They don't always match up.

I agree, some times the online stuff is wonky. But for the most part, if somebody forgot to do a price change, it wouldn't matter as it should still ring up as the sale price regardless of the sticker. It's just a number on a box after all to track items in the system. With that said, some people are jerks and laugh at the expense of others. I don't know how you'd report that though. I've sent emails before, and they seem to go unnoticed. *shrug*
