Looks Like We’re All Moving Now…so now what?

When the Nintendo Wii was released way back in 2006 it was the only console on the block which introduced "move-control" game play with it's then revolutionary Wii-mote + Nunchuk control scheme, and we all flocked to our favorite B&M store to buy it. Fast forward four years and gamers now have not one, not two, but three consoles that are doing their best to convince us to shake, waggle and move our avatars/game characters on the screen. With PlayStation's Move and Xbox 360's Kinect options now widely available, the console war seems to be heating up, but who will win?

Before Move and Kinect were released, Nintendo offered gamers an experience not offered from their competitors. However, that semi-ace-in-the-hole (I believe Nintendo's real ace comes from their first party games) has been weakened somewhat these past few months. But who will this benefit? Gamers will ultimately be the winners but this might take some time to materialize as the launch titles from both Sony and Microsoft both look like Sega Saturn shovel-ware sans a title here and a there (Sports Champions & Dance Central, respectfully). What about the three companies? Who will stand a top the gaming entertainment mountain once this generation of gaming is in the history books?

Maybe Nintendo's "meh" attitude towards online gaming & HD graphics is going to cost them sales at the end of this race? Maybe Sony's "it only does everything" slogan will seep it's way into the consumers sub-conscious and convince him/her that their game experience is worth the price of admission? And what about the Xbox 360? Can it continue to be the best-selling console for the next four months? Will the cost of their Xbox Live Gold Membership push gamers into the arms of another lover? Or will uninspired "me-too" I AM THE CONTROLLER games jade the loyal millions of gamers who have suffered with their always on the verge of red-ringing console (I've had RROD twice, thank you very much)? Questions with no real answers, I know, but it sure is fun to think about!

Just remember, games are suppose to be fun! If you're not having fun you're probably playing the wrong game or are playing for the wrong reason. Game on, hit me up on Xbox Live (gamer tag speedyO5)...now excuse me as I play some Disney Sing It! Hey, what can I say, I like the achieve, errr, songs. :-p
