Today I join the masses. I figure at 10 bucks for the battle chest it was a great buy, so as we speak I am installing the game. I come to you CAG today to ask for tips starting out.
P.S. I am looking at making a ranged support character. |

I made the jump too this week. I bought it off battle.net though the game and the two current expansions only ran me 20 bucks. Wrath of the Lick King was only 10. Not a bad deal.
Right now there is some wack shit with my account though where it says I am still a trial account despite having upgraded my account. |

The best tip I can give is to take all the $$ you are going to spend on monthly fees and just go ahead and burn it to keep yourself warm.

You picked the best time to join. With so many new additions and other tweaks the leveling is by far the best it's ever been. If you're looking for ranged support a priest is your best bet I'd guess or maybe a druid/

Amazon had it for $4.99 today with a $5 gaming credit...but good pick up either way.

@Hell monkey
It's really not that expensive. Especially if you shop around and just buy the prepaid time cards like I plan to do. As is I burned up some lingering credit at gamestop and only shelled out 10 bucks for my first 60 days. I've got 40 dollars in amazon credit from cashing in my little change cup. And you can always equate the roughly 50 cents a day to someone buying a soft drink at a gas station everyday before they go into work. My biggest complaint before this sale was having to pay so much money for the game and the expansion when making the initial purchase. The battle.net deal pretty much took care of that though. |

Force yourself to run a mile at least twice a week. Hot pockets and ramen noodles and red bull aren't good for your health.
Oh and buy some gatorade. The aforementioned foods will give you massive diarrhea and you'll lose some electrolytes. |

I upgraded to the latest again. I stopped before Burning Crusade, but have been wanting to play again since I have more time and it was so cheap. Honestly too, I watch the news and tv just about every day and it is something that I will do that the same time. That's kind of how it was before except for raiding. Under those circumstances, it's not a big deal.

i got wow in October and i don't see what all the stigma is about i been playing for a month and gotta say compared to all that other free to play shit ive bought and played over the last 10 years i feel stupid for not buying it sooner its a really good game its fun namely the pvp, but like every mmo game there's the select few dudes who think they are top shit but most of them are few and far between if u can put all the negativity past you and just play its a really fun game with lots of cool people!

Welcome to WoW.
I only play about 3-4 hours a week but the monthly fee is worth it to me (especially since I rarely buy any other video game anyway). For some reason people think it's wrong to pay a monthly fee for WoW, but they'll spend it on Netflix, or buy overpriced drinks from a bar, or a number of other forms of entertainment. They're silly. For beginners, a Hunter or Paladin are probably one of the easiest classes to play and level by yourself. Paladins are nice because they are a hybrid class, which means you are able to fulfill any of the three "roles" in WoW dungeons (tank, damage dealer, healer). Web sites like Wowhead.com and Wowwiki.com are very helpful. After choosing a class, lookup their "talent build" on Google to find the most optimal settings. Youtube also has some helpful videos. I hope you enjoy it. Try to find a good guild or (even better) local friends who are playing too. This is where WoW becomes really fun -- playing with other people you know. |

I have no problem with how people spend their money (unless it is harming me or a loved one of mine) I just can't see myself playing it enought to justify the monthly fee. Thats just me.
P.S- I don't do XBL for that reason as well. |
