It's getting cold again. :(

Eh, I felt like blogging about something, so I'm going to discuss cold weather. Despite how I enjoy some winter activities, cold weather drives me crazy. Sometimes I don't understand why I continue to live in areas with cold weather. Cold weather drives me crazy for a few reasons. When looking at the weather all week, I'll be stuck with cold weather for a long time.
The main reason I dislike cold weather has to do with how cold it will be around my place. I have tons of short sleeve shirts and that's what I wear a lot. When it's outside (I'm talking 42 degrees or below), it's chilly inside my place all day. I turn up the heat, yet there are some cold spots around my place. While turning up the heat can make my place feel more comfortable, my electric bill goes way up. Last year I had an electric bill in Jan. cost me $178 to heat 750 square feet. If I want to feel warm, I must have a fleece blanket on at all times, layers of sweat shirts, or even wear a robe/snuggie. If I sit on a chair or even get in bed, everything feels cold. Also gets annoying how everything dries up. When touching my laptop or various things around my place, I'll shock myself. No where near as bad as my college dorm (door shocked you whenever you touched it). Another reason I hate cold weather is the frost on my car in the morning. I have to wake up earlier just so I can de-frost my car and scrape off any ice. Snow is even worse because I gotta plow all around my car. Thankfully it hasn't snowed yet in my area (last year we got 80 inches, and are only suppose to get 1/8th of hat). Oh course, having snow and ice on the roads suck. Last year we had an unexpected snowfall (roads weren't plowed) where I drove home and could barely control my car. I ended up sliding into a curb breaking my tie rod (cost me $400+ to fix). While yeah I'll take it slow, but kind of hard to want to when you are in a hurry. Parking can be a pain because your doors will just hit a giant snow pile with little room to move. Also sucks trying to be careful moving around without slipping (when walking on ice). Quite honestly, I don't mind layering down when I'm outside, such as wearing a winter jacket, gloves, etc. While I usually don't mind wearing a hat, it only gets annoying when you wear glasses. Anyway, while I really like the Holiday season and the look of snow, cold weather just sucks. While I plan to snowboard at times this year and participate in some winter activities, I now really can't wait for warmer weather to return. Anyone else feeling the cold weather right now? |

It is 20 degrees in great lakes, IL. I had to watch out for the snow on the ground. I miss warm weather.

Personally I love winter besides the driving in the crap. I can go outside in about 20 degrees with a short sleeve shirt and be fine. Anything colder and it starts to bug me. Snowboarding has just happened to build up a tolerance to the cold for me.

I work outside in the cold and I hate it. I have to wear about 4 layers of clothes plus coverall bibs and a heavy jacket. No matter what I can't stay warm, right now it's only been in the 20's, not too bad yet but it will get to 0's and - temps soon. Then with the windchill on top of that...just can't stand it.
As for the dryness mana, go buy a humidifier for your apartment. You can get one for pretty damn cheap, I picked up one awhile back, hot or cold humidifier, for like $25 and it works great. |

I'm gonna be the one to do this then.
I'm upset because it is currently 49 outside.... (it's 8:30pm) and the high (66) didn't make me very happy either. supposed to be 76 this weekend though so things are looking up. |

I also hated having to scrape the car in the morning. Best thing I ever bought back when I lived in the US was an autostart for my car. Just make sure your car is set to defrost and fire that baby up from inside in the mornings. Oh yeah!

Hero101, anything bordering Lake Michigan sucks. Bordering Lake Michigan and the bay of Green Bay is shit too, because we get lake effect snow and a nice breeze from Lake Micigan. We're sitting at a high of ~19 today, but thankfully the snow has been absent so far. I'd love if there was no snow this winter, but we're gonna end up with snow on the ground until May.
