Ok guys... Deep topic today; religion! I thought it might be an interesting thing to hear some of your thoughts on it.

Religion for me has never really been a part of my life, I mean my family celebrates Christian holidays like Christmas and easter but those were always just the great days once a year when a fat bearded man wearing a red suit would come into our house and give us presents or a gigantic rabbit would leave candy filled eggs in our backyard; it never really carried any religious connotations.

My dad used to go to a catholic school when he was very young and he hated it; he said the nuns were nothing short of evil. It was perfectly normal for the nuns to hit kids with rulers and once one he had even been dragged out into the hallway by his hair for something very minor which I can't recall at the moment.

When he was growing up religion split his family apart; His mom went to one church, his dad another, and his sister became a Mormon, and they all thought they were right. My dad went to many different churches throughout his life and now he doesn't go to any. He told me he doesn't think he should have to give money to a man and go into a special building every Sunday to believe in god.

My mom wanted to get me baptized as a baby, but my dad refused. I guess he felt that I should be able to make my own choices. He never tried to instill any of his religious viewpoints, or not instill them for that matter. Today I am grateful for that.

I honestly look at all religions as the same. People try so hard to try and understand why we're here that they make up their own ideas and convey them as the truth until thousands of years pass and there's so much mystery shrouding these ideas that they're eventually seen as the truth by millions.

I mean think about it... We're on a giant round rock floating through an infinite black space; I think it's just human nature to try and find an explanation for why and for how. I sort of envy people who can undoubtedly follow a religion because it gives their life a clear purpose, but I don't think I will never be able to accept religion into my life because I'm just too skeptical.

A large majority of my friends are religious and I could care less what they choose to believe as long as they're a good person.

I'm sure there's a lot more I want to say about this topic but It's getting late and I'm tired. So what are your thoughts on religon? any interesting stories or ideas you'd like to put out?

Oh yeah and If I see comments with people trying to tell each other that their ideas are wrong I'm gonna ban yo ass from my blog

I'm agnostic, plain and simple.

Was forced to be a Christian all of my life basically. I always rebelled and didn't want to follow it. That is what I am today though even though I don't show it sometimes. xD

I've always been a religious person and grew up in the church. I haven't always walked the straight and narrow, but I do my best to be a good person and follow the bible. However, I've never pushed my beliefs on anyone, refused to be a friend with someone just because they weren't a christian, or looked down on other religious practices. I've always had a certain distaste for people who think they have it 100% right and everyone else is wrong. What I think is we all should try our best to be good people regardless of what we believe. Some of the best people I've ever known were non-believers, and some of the worst people I've ever known were religious...and of course vice-versa.

I've always loved the saying, "I believe in God, I just don't believe in religion. My whole outlook has been that God is good, man is not.

I do my little part to make the world better and surround myself with good people regardless of their background.

I guess you could call me the most open minded christian in the world, while following what Christ says as best as possible. Not being one of those ignorant people who judge like the disgusting westboro. But really i prefer to keep to myself.

I was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools for my entire education. While I can understand the horror stories from years ago, they aren't like that anymore.

To me, the person you are, and the actions you perform mean much more than whether you go to church on Sunday, or temple on Saturday, or whatever you practice. I do go to church every Sunday and Holy day, because I get so much out of it. It is a time when I can stop, take a breath, reflect on what is happening in my life, give thanks to God for my blessings, and try and become a better person.

I don't believe in any religion, but I do think it's important. Back in the Medieval times, religion was important in keeping people in line and instilling a fear into the people that if you do wrong you will burn in a hole in the afterlife, but if you do good than you get cotton candy and hookers up with JC.

I try to be a follower of Christ in my life. I do attend church on a regular basis and love it. It truly is an amazing place that can lift my spirits and redirect problems in my life. Not all churches are like that of course, I've been to plenty that are boring all the way to downright offensive. I don't believe you need a "special" building to believe in God, but we are taught to have fellowship which is part of why the institution of church was created.

I do understand how Christians get a bad name due to there own ignorance. Many Christians consider themselves "better" than non-believers. It is a Christians duty to love your neighbor no matter what they believe but it is also a Christians duty to educate said neighbor about Christianity and attempt to make them a believer. This was Jesus' last command, to make disciples of the world. Of course how many Christians go about that command can turn more people away from God that towards him.

a lot of people handle religion perfectly fine and I think that gets lost on the internet. For every family that's broken up by feuding religions I'm sure you can list tons of families that we perfectly fine. Or broke up for non-religious reasons. or heck were brought together by religion?

personally I think my religious views are correct. That's why they're my religious views. If you disagree then I think you're wrong but aside from that it's no big deal. A lot of people try to be wishy washy over right and wrong I say own up to it and let it go. Just because I disagree with someone doesn't mean I have to spite them.

I'm willing to listen to anybody about anything. Most people couldn't argue their way out of a kindergarten fight but I'm willing to let them try.

I spent the bulk of my childhood agnostic and/or borderline atheist. Late in my teens, I kind of felt the futility of life. You're born, you do some stuff, then you die. Even the most famous people eventually fade over time. What's the point?

I guess that's the point where I had turned to Christianity. To me it wasn't about the rules, spirituality, or even the people involved. If anything I received more of a cold shoulder from fellow Christians than non-Christians. But I'm still here and faithful because deep down it just feels right. Maybe some see this as the equivalent of a crutch or Dumbo's magic feather, but putting my trust in an active loving God has always worked out in the end.

This book really caused me to think about the historical figure of Jesus.

I was born a Christian, as part of the Protestant group known as Lutheran. I use to go to Church with the family when I was young. We stopped going because our church was far away and we no longer needed to go for the school we attended. We still are somewhat religious in the family, just don't go to church. While I don't go now, I would not mind going again become more involved with religion. I feel it suits me well.
