Missed the super bowl, I actually didn't even try to watch it, I wanted to bet on the Steelers online somehow but I couldn't figure it out...

Glad that didn't happen..

Called Tracfone, This is a confusing story so bare with me.

I got a safe link plan (250 free every month for poor people) yet I already have a Tracfone with minutes on it and such. My personal phone will "Phone A" and they sent me a new phone we will call it "Phone B".

Now I wanted to keep my Phone A number and phone because all job applications and such go to that number and obviously everyone I know calls that number and it has double minutes for life and contacts and such. However I wanted Phone B's free 250 minutes plan on Phone A's number, not too hard to understand right?

I had to call Tracfone obviously (it has to be the dumbest name for a company). They said originally that I could do this and I waited 2 hours on hold trying to get through to a service rep wasting all my minutes(between 3 different calls).

Now I told the rep what I wanted and he totally ed it up, the guy probably was from India or something. Now I have 2 phones with Phone B's number on it and Phone A's number is completely "gone and no longer in service" as they put it. Where the did it go phone hell or something????

Whatever, I was like just put it back and then they go on and say "noo you've never had phone A's number!" blah blah calling me a lier and saying that phone was deactivated a year ago even though I've been calling them in a course of a day over it and had it 15 minutes previous to this call

I'm pissed, so now I've got Phone B and I try to recall and just see if a unknowing person will fix it back to Phone A. He now says I don't even have Safe link on Phone A or B. my life.

But there is a upside to this, I called my Phone A's number and got my voice mail and I got a message that comcast wants me for a interview so thats not totally bad, I then changed my voice mail to redirect any employers or callers to Phone B's number.

But Phone A's number is in a grave somewhere, it doesn't make sense to me... Can anyone think of a solution where I can get my phone A's number back? Price doesn't matter, I just need a phone with that number to redirect calls for a little while.

try calling back from 9-5 on a monday-friday and if you get a person you can't understand ask them for someone you can they will be pissed but trust me it works. Also make sure to be a documentative as possible.
port your number from Phone A to google voice ($20) so you can keep it forever, then set up google voice to fwd the number to your new phone.

I tried to set up google voice last night however I didn't know where to start. I'll look at it again tonight.

EDIT it doesn't work as I have no access other then the voicemail to that number...

Is being responsible and paying for your own phone instead of leaching off Uncle Sam out of the question?

Morrigan Lover you should do some research before you bother commenting. That plan has nothing to do with the government, its a plan provided to low income families by the phone companies and nowadays you can make 30,000-60,000 and be considered low income even though I only make about 7,000 a year.

Free phones funded by my taxes? I believe that's called socialism. Let me guess, you're a big Obama supporter too?

Wow, this whole time I thought the FCC was part of the government. Thanks for correcting me.

Morrigan you are a idiot. This is from the website safelink.com not wikipedia were you looked.

LIFELINE/SAFELINK FACT SHEET

There is no "Obama phone" or other newly created federal program to provide free cell phones. As you may know, this is a myth that is now circulating on the Web via email and blog sites. It has been thoroughly debunked by independent groups. (See for example: FactCheck.org at http://www.factcheck.org/2009/10/the-obama-phone/, which notes: "Low-income households have been eligible for discounted telephone service for more than a decade. But the program is funded by telecom companies, not by taxes, and the president has nothing to do with it."

The federal "Lifeline" program was created during the Reagan Administration. Lifeline is a federal program created by the Reagan era Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1984. The program was enhanced under Telecommunications Act of 1996, which was supported on a broadly bipartisan basis in Congress. The FCC’s Low Income Program of the Universal Service Fund, which is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), is designed to ensure that quality telecommunications services are available to low-income customers at just, reasonable, and affordable rates. Lifeline support reduces eligible low-income consumers' monthly charges for basic telephone service.

Thanks to SafeLink, Lifeline support is now available for wireless phones. Traditionally, the Lifeline program was only available as a discount on a consumer’s landline telephone bill. SafeLink Wireless was created by TracFone Wireless, Inc. when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently approved the company to offer Lifeline -- a public assistance program that ensures telephone service is available and affordable for low-income subscribers. SafeLink Wireless applies the Universal Service Fund subsidy to an allotment of free airtime minutes and TracFone provides the wireless handset at the company’s expense. Instead of receiving a subsidized monthly telephone bill for Lifeline service, SafeLink converts the total amount of discounted service into minutes each month for one year. The cell phone offers in-demand features: voicemail, text, three-way calling, call waiting, caller ID and access to 911.

Quote:
SafeLink phones are not paid for by taxpayers or the federal government. TracFone Wireless pays for the phones and also the cost of promoting its SafeLink program to make sure that eligible consumers know about the program.
