Man, talk about the worst thing that could happen today. I was driving downtown New London, CT to go and visit my grandparents (who I haven't seen since the 4th of July) and on the way there we were struck by a boy throwing large rocks at our car. When we came through a bridge underpass my wife noticed a young boy (about 13 years of age) on the side of the road. We didn't think much of it, but when we drove by we heard a LOUD bang on the side of my car...I thought another car had hit us, but it turns out the boy threw a large rock (or two rocks...not sure) at the side of my new 2007 Toyota Prius...
We stopped the car and the boy ran away of course, but we looked at it and the side of the car now had two good size dents in the car. I was heartbroken...not only did my beautiful car get vandalized right before my vacation (leaving to visit Maryland this week) but now my wife is extremely upset as well. We were only about 300 feet from the Police Station when it happened so we went ahead and reported it, but of course the kid was long gone by that time. We made a police report, and they told us we could call our insurance company.
What sucks is that I have a $1000 deductable, so even if Geico were to cover it, it'd cost a MINIMUM of a $1000 for me to fix it...something I really cannot afford at the moment.
What can I do guys? Do you have any idea? I have a feeling that Toyota would want to replace the entire door or have to repaint that side of the car to make it match. I realize it's just cosmetic damage, but seeing those dents is going to hurt me and my wife every time we look at it. I'm so bummed out right now :(
