Games I played a while ago but am just now writing about

I decided to finish up my posts on the games I played in January. Here are the last of them.

Miles Edgeworth Ace Attorney Investigations- I started this way back in spring of last year. I needed a portable game to take with on a trip, so I picked it back up again, promising myself that I would finish it. I am really glad that I did. I forgot how amazing the Phoenix Wright series is, especially the late cases. My only frustration was that sometimes, the game wants you to take baby steps, when you're already 3 steps ahead in the logic. Other than that, fantastic game. Can't wait for another from this series.

Vanquish- I didn't like it. It's extremely hard to judge your health. There were tons of enemies with cheap one hit kills. This was extremely frustrating when the checkpoints were ten minutes before you got killed. I had no idea what was happening in the story. Did I miss something at the beginning that explained who I was, or what was happening? Maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Oblivion- I'm only a few hours in. I can't seem to get into it. It just feels really dated. I don't really care about the story. It also seems really easy. I haven't died, or even come close yet. I may give it some more time. Or I might just wait until Skyrim comes out.

Magicka- Sooo glitchy. I played through in co-op, and we made our way through, but there were more than a few times we thought about quitting because of the game killing glitches. Toward the end, we literally ran through a level spamming heals because the enemies were so overpowered. In the times where it wasn't glitching, it was actually a lot of fun. I feel like there were a few too many elements to deal with, and they could have easily weeded it down to about eight. But once I got used to it, it wasn't so bad. I have no idea how they will pull this off on a console though...

Minecraft- I saw a friend playing and decided to give it a go, with all the attention it's been getting. I'm glad I tried it, I had some fun in the ten-ish hours I put into it. To put it in Wombat's terms though, I had no carrot. Nothing that propelled me to keep going. I had my house. I was safe from creepers. What next? Build a bigger house? I guess I just got bored. I might be back eventually. Who knows.

Ok I finally talked about everything I played in January. Next blog will be on to February, a month where my gaming slowed quite a bit.
