Let me start by saying our thought are with everyone in Japan and those directly effected by the disaster.
So my wife and I were planning a 10 day trip to Japan in the end of May. We have yet to book a plane ticket or any hotel reservations, all of the which we were going to do this week. Our itinerary was to visit Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo so we wouldn't be anywhere near the devastation. My question is should we hold off and plan a fall trip or push forward with our original plan. |

Oaska and Kyoto look fine. Tokyo's too close to the aftershocks for my liking currently but I would figure they'd be OK by May. |

The state dept is urging against traveling to Japan.. so.. I'd go forward with a fall plan.

I'd wait. They don't know what those nuclear reactors are going to do. Those people that are displaced have to go somewhere, so the cost of everything will shoot through the roof. I lived in Okinawa, Japan when I was little and would refer you there - plenty of beach and things to do, relatively secure. Or even Hawaii.

fall plan....plus they are doing rolling black outs in Japan. according to Cheapy even Subway stopped toasting bread and her wife's work shut off the ass warmer and ass washer in their toilets to save power. Not to mention they shut down transportation for the power reason also.
