Running Franchises Into The Ground Rant |

Another rant blog
Call Of Duty ![]() Inevitable. This had to appear on this list, and I'll tell you why in one word...ACTIVISION. Activision have an extremely nasty habit of killing any franchise with their name on the box, which is a damn shame considering their franchises have potential. The Tony Hawk's series was cool back in the day, Guitar Hero was awesome back in the day, and I'm not a fan of World War II games, so Modern Warfare was awesome, then they went back to World War II, then literally re-created Modern Warfare and put "2" on the end of the title, and now Black Ops (not too bad, but you've spent the last 3 or 4 years creating new textures and not innovating AT ALL). The worst part is, it's impossible to avoid the game. Honestly just wait for the next Call Of Duty to launch then on that day, check your XBL/PSN friend list, I guarentee more than half of your friends will be playing it. It's a shame how people will buy it as long as it has Call Of Duty in the title. Pre-ordering it and going to a midnight launch for it is extremely stupid as well. As if you're going to have a hard time getting it. Go outside, it will be ing raining Call Of Duty.Guitar Hero ![]() Like I said before, yet another casualty of Activision, only even worse in my opinion. While at least Guitar Hero isn't bought by everyone and their dog on release day and rammed down your throat, they have made WAY too many games. I'm so glad they've stopped making them now, and being that I used to be a pretty hardcore player, I never thought I'd say that. I started to dislike Guitar Hero after I started playing Rock Band (being a drummer, I really didn't like Guitar Hero after 3, Guitar Hero drums are awful). Maybe the Guitar Hero franchise would've survived if they did the DLC right like Rock Band, but apparently, discs are so much better according to Activision. I'm not saying Rock Band is perfect, they have a few games that suck to me, like Lego Rock Band and RB: Green Day (of all the bands, Green Day?!), but at least they don't release one game per hour, there's 14 Guitar Hero games to my knowledge, not counting the other "Hero" games such as DJ Hero 1, 2 and Band Hero. Yeah, those are franchises that will last. Jesus Christ. "Movies" No I'm not talking about movies in general, I'm talking about the movies that have "Movie" on the end, and some other exceptions too. Basically, any parody movie that has "From the creators of Scary Movie" on the cover, or any movie that is similar to the Scary Movies. Scary Movie was alright at best, Scary Movie 2 had a couple of laughs, but wasn't good, Scary Movie 3 was awful, don't even get me started on 4. Oh and apparently they're making a Scary Movie 5 which I'm probably just gonna pretend doesn't exist. Then we have the other "Movies". Epic Movie, Date Movie, Superhero Movie, Disaster Movie etc. There might be more that I don't know about. I've seen all of those except for Disaster Movie, and they all made me want to die (Disaster Movie had the number one spot on IMDB's bottom 100 list for a while, so I can only presume how bad it is). Oh, and then there are the "Movies" that try to cover up that they are "Movies", for example Dance Flick (very clever, you changed Movie to Flick) and Vampires Suck which is a pretty recent parody of Twilight. As much as I don't like Twilight, you're taking an already bad movie franshise and mixing it with an even worse franchise. Yeah, I actually like Twilight more than these parody movies, and I have a LOT of shit to hate on Twilight for. If you're gonna diss on Twilight, probably the best way to do it is to give it the MST3K treatment, which has been done. Saw ![]() It's about ing time Saw finished. I watched the final Saw movie a couple of weeks ago, and I can't describe how terrible it was. Saw used to have an actual story. The first one could've been a great stand alone film if they changed the ending because it's a cliffhanger, but the ending was good so another film just had to be made. I didn't like Saw II that much but it was okay, nice plot twist. Saw III is my favourite of the movies, and seriously should've been the last one.
The third one was a nice wrap up to what should've been a trilogy, and if they ended it right there, I doubt anyone would have complained. But, they had to with it. They took the exact same concept from the third movie, only with less of a plot, and did it four times over. They take random people that hold absolutely zero emotional involvement to the movie, put them through a series of traps, and end the movie with next to no plot development running along side.I think the creators got to the point where they realised that after the third movie, nobody wanted to see anything but the traps, and they definitely showed it, especially in the last movie. Basically, putting a character no one cares about through a series of getting people out of traps, interspersed with people having to get out of traps. Brilliant ![]() Oh and I forgot to mention the Saw games that are being created. There are two of these games already, and most movie to video game adaptions are notoriously bad, so if they do with the games what they did with the movies...the thought makes my wang shrivel. Anyway, time to end my pretty long rant. Keep in mind that all of this is my opinion. It's my opinion that Saw sucks and everything else I trashed, so please don't get too defensive if you have something to say. Have a nice day/night guys |

Where Final Fantasy? |

I'm not a Final Fantasy player so I can't really put it in here because I have nothing to say about it. With the series that I mentioned, I've played and seen almost all of the installments in each, so I've got a lot to say.
Oh, and forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what does "tl;dr" mean? |

"Not Another Teen Movie" is the exception to the rule.

I've never seen it, but it's not really in the same league as the parody movies I was talking about from what I can tell, so I think it can be an exception.

As long as they keep making money off these franchise they will keep running them into the ground. Why should companies care about the quality when people keep buying into it.That's why we see a COD game every year until the day sales drop.

you had to watch this crap to realize it was crap?? Where's your judgement?
And you wonder why this shit keeps getting made? |

@4nik8tor - Where did I say I had to watch it to realise? I watch things before I talk about them because it would be pretty moronic to be like "Yeah this
ing sucks so much it's untrue, not that I've seen it or anything, but still". Trust me, I wouldn't watch them by myself out of my own free will. When I'm at a friend's house or something, that's where I end up watching half of this shit. Please don't talk as if I went out and bought at ticket to see them, or bought the DVD, I'd imagine you could've figured that yourself by how much I complained about them. And where's my judgement? In the unmissable blog post above this comment section. |

well, you said you didnt want to comment on stuff you didnt watch.
Don't get me wrong.. I understand you might be sitting at a friends house watching this crap and that isnt really supporting it, but if I'd sit through it. Your job at that point is to bust your friends balls for buying this crap |

Believe me, I do. I wouldn't like to make a rant blog on something I haven't seen, that would be a bit unfair, so if I've not seen it then I won't diss on it on a blog. But I do bust my friend's balls for buying it before they even put it in the DVD player, because I can still tell when the movie is going to be horrible.
