Relatively decent progress in the last month, though I have had a bunch of games that I just have not had the desire to go back to play. I do sort of consider myself a trophy enthusiast, but lately I've been more picky about games. And I refuse to stoop so low as to buy/borrow super easy platinum games, such as Disney games. My cousin owns Up, which is a 4-6hr plat. I was at his house, but luckily I was able to turn my nose up at that and not borrow it. I'm so proud of myself - whenever I see people with trophies like those in their collection, that's when you know they'll do anything for trophies. It's like crack addiction at that point.
Also, I haven't even turned on my 360 in the last few months.
So without further ado:
Recent accomplishments:
Dead Space Ignition (PSN)
Yeah, ok, this is a filler. I got this game for free with the preorder of DS2, but got swamped with other things to play, so I never went back to it. It's an incredibly easy 100%, though you may struggle with the 25 minute trophy without help. Games like this are what make you realize the Dead Space franchise is really being ridden into the ground. There's really only so many times the same story can be told from different angles.
Yakuza 3 (plat)
This is a HARD plat. Actually, my brother did the first playthrough of this game. I just finished it up on Hard/Extra Hard (easy with NG+, especially with the golden gun from finishing the subquests), and then finished the minigames (super hard) and Ultimate Skill mode (hard). The minigames are easily the most annoying thing ever, particularly pool and the batting cage (I made golf and darts my bitch after some practice). I do somewhat like this series, but not enough to play it on my own, which is why I have not gotten Yakuza 4. Honestly, I feel the fighting system is too clunky to enjoy. It's just too hard to fight more than 3 enemies at once cleanly.
Borderlands (100% DLC)
Traded my spare Sanwa buttons for the full DLC pack for this game, and ran through all the DLC. It's actually pretty fun, minus the item collecting in Claptrap and all of the Mad Moxxi DLC. Mad Moxxi is just a huge waste of time - over an hour for each large tournament, which gives 0 exp and no good weapons, is just retarded. Luckily, as I was running through General Knoxx (after I finished Zombie Ned and Claptrap solo), I ran into a guy online who gave me a glitched weapon. It made Moxxi bearable, though no less tedious. It's tough to find people willing to play the larger Moxxi tournaments online, so you pretty much have to slough through it yourself. And most of the time, people doing them will have glitched weapons themselves, so I don't feel so bad.
Acceleration of Suguri X Edition (PSN)
Got it with some friends because it was cheap. Apparently it's easy enough to win even on Hard mode just by standing still and attacking, but I was exploring strategies and such, so it was actually kind of tricky for me. I struggled a little bit on a few of the trophies (winning with every character with no continues was annoying), but I'd still say it was very easy overall. I don't think any of my friends enjoyed the game very much, though... Oh well.
Vanquish (plat)
Bam. I still think the game is cheap and hard, but I knew I was better than it. It's a relatively short platinum, I'd say under 30 hrs, but it's probably one of the more deceptively hard platinums. You'll run through story mode and think, gee, that wasn't so bad. After running through the story mode, you unlock 5 challenges, which, aside from challenge 4, aren't so bad either. Challenge 4 makes you scratch your head (and rage). Then after beating all 5, you unlock challenge 6, which makes you implode. There's no super hints for it, just watch videos and read strategies online. There's tons of methods to win, it just depends on how you play and which methods you can adopt into your own playstyle. And then it's basically all down to luck after that. You'll be cruising along fine, clear 2 waves without getting hit, and then a weak robot will randomly headshot you from across the map and you'll instantly die. Or a larger robot will decide to ignore all your headshots and plow through your bullets and kill you, despite your best efforts to disable it. Or you'll get so pinned down by bullets that one small robot sneaks behind you, sends you into damage AR mode, then everything else goes wrong.
Basically, don't take this game for granted. It's a doozy.
Games I'm semi-playing:
Gran Turismo 5
Borrowed this from my cousin, I still want to buy my own copy when it gets cheaper. I won't lie, I have 0 plans of getting this platinum. I'll just get as far as I can. Getting gold in all events is stupid, particularly the special events and the license tests. I really enjoyed GT3, didn't like GT4 much, and this one is actually pretty fun again. I hate all the new tracks with a passion, though (go to hell Nurburgring and La Sarthe).
Side mentions: Haven't really gone back to
Arcana Heart 3 because I'm out of practice now, haven't had desire to go back to
Dead Space 2 because it sucks, haven't wanted to finish the online grind of
Bioshock 2, haven't gone back to
CODBO because I really suck at zombie mode.
Games on the horizon:
Dynasty Warriors 7
Comes out in 3 days. I haven't preordered it yet, but I'll be getting it, though I won't have much time to play because I'm leaving on vacation soon. And hopefully on that vacation I'll be able to find and buy games like Musou Orochi Z and Tales of Graces F...
So, that's my wrapup. I won't get any gaming done in April, so there won't be much from me until later. And here's my YourGamerCard:
