To me, E3 time is like Christmas. There are plenty of unknowns and lots of anticipation around this time of the year. The part I really enjoy are the press conferences from the big three (Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony) where they show off products and make announcements for the first time. I also really enjoy the elaborate multi-million dollar booths the major companies put up, to help showcase their products.

I feel E3 is much more than just about the games, it is about the industry as a whole, the personalities, and the culture. All of these elements coalesce each year at E3, and I find it is a spectacle to behold. It just feels great to be among like-minded people and professionals for a few days each year; it feels like a class reunion of sorts, but much better!

I used to go to and cover E3 from 1999-2001, as a staff reviewer for Polygon Magazine. Unfortunately that firm has since gone under, and I was left without an organization to represent at E3. I can’t believe it has been 10 years since I have last gone to E3, and I would relish the opportunity to go once again.

When you go to E3, cherish every minute of it, for it will be one of the highlights of your life….
