My 3DS Wishlist: 3 Games I would buy a 3DS for INSTANTLY |
1163 views |
![]() Currently, I’ve managed to stave off my gadget envy in regards to the Nintendo’s 3DS. It wasn’t easy, but the combination of a lackluster launch lineup and my apparent inability to cope with the 3D effect ultimately kept my $250 safely secured in my wallet. For the time being at least. There is no doubt that my lust for new gear will eventually get the better of me and someday I will be the proud owner of a 3DS. If Nintendo really wanted to speed up that process though, here is a list of 3 surefire titles that would have me running to the store to pick up their latest portable. #3 The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Sure, Ocarina of time is on the slate for the 3DS - but I’ve already tried and failed twice to beat that game. First on the N64, second on the Gamecube. Not sure if I need a third attempt to fully strike out. Wind Waker on the other hand... I really enjoyed Wind Waker on the Gamecube, and though I invested countless hours into the game I never saw it to it’s conclusion. If Nintendo gave me the opportunity to try again, this time on a portable, you can bet your bottom dollar I’d be in. Chances of this happening: Slim, but possible. While Wind Waker doesn’t quite carry the weight that Ocarina does there’s a moderate chance Nintendo might be looking to port this Gamecube gem at some point. We’ll probably see Majora’s Mask on the 3DS first but after that maybe. Phantom Hourglass #2 New 2D Metroid I know this is the 3DS I’m talking about, but it’s not a 3D Metroid I’m after here. Give me the classic Metroid 2D sidescroller that I’ve been pining for all these years and I am in like flynn. Zero Mission & Fusion were great on the GBA, Hunters on the DS - not so much. A new 2D sidescrolling Metroid would be an instant buy for me for both the game and a 3DS. Worst case scenario Nintendo, give me a remake of Super Metroid. Or hell, even just Metroid collection of previous released games would scratch my itch. Anything Nintendo I’m begging you here!!!! Chances of this happening: Probably zilch. We didn’t see any 2D Metroid games on the DS, so most likely Nintendo has buried that iteration of the franchise. I will never give up hope, but I’m not going to hold my breath either. (Metroid art borrowed from http://kironohasama.deviantart.com/a...paper-92219502) #1 Advance Wars 3DS I’ve been enamourd with the Advance Wars series ever since I was first introduced to it on the GBA back in 2001. 4 games and hundreds of hours later and I still can’t get enough of this turn based strategy game. While I wasn’t as crazy about the latest iteration of AW (2008’s Days of Ruin) any release in the series is a definite purchase - even if requires the 3DS’s $250 entry fee to do so. I would love to see a return to the original cast, or perhaps all new characters for a 3DS version. Hardly matters, as gameplay is king when it comes to Advance Wars - and if they’re selling, I’m buying. Chances of this happening: I’m feeling pretty good about this one. Maybe we’ll get a hint of a new Advance Wars at E3 this year. Out of the three games in this post, a new Advance Wars title is the only one that I think has a real chance. And there you have it. If Big N has drops any of these, then it’s a 3DS for me. Until then I’ll be sitting firmly on the fence waiting for a stronger lineup to emerge. How about you? Do you have a 3DS yet? Are you planning on picking one up? What are your dream 3DS games either way? ![]() |

I've realized over the past few years that I really don't care too much for handheld gaming. Since I've bought a big hdtv, I don't want to stare at anything else. Even my little computer monitor kinda bugs me. So I'm always sort of bummed when franchises I like (DOA, SoulCalibur, Valkyria Chronicles) put out new entries exclusively on handhelds. Add to that, the fact I dislike 3D even in jumbo format, and I'm hoping this system blows over soon.
That said, I'm eager for another Blast Corps, and the 3DS is the most likely candidate on which we might see a revival. 3D building destruction sounds fun. But, then again, it was a Rare game, so if they still hold the license we could see it on Xbox instead. Just wake me when it happens. |

I'm really just waiting for something 3D in the Phoenix Wright series and the Professor Layton series. Both of which are high likelihood. I would also love an American version of Inazuma Eleven which I still have hope for.
I was almost regretting my 3DS purchase until I heard about Harvest Moon the other day. Just have to wait it out. |

My 3DS games that would make it an instant buy would be a Super Smash Bros or Earthbound. Both I believe are very unlikely, but I can always hope.

well we also got Hunters fresh out the gate with the DS. I feel very confident that we could get a 2D metroid. I'm down with that.
I am missing WindWaker from my library so if they release it on 3DS I'll buy it but honesty not even a Canvas Curse sequel would get me to buy a 3DS before the fall. Nothing short of a price drop. :sigh: seriously how to you regret a purchase of a console in it's first month? Even N-Gage owners weren't that dejected. |

@Wolfkin- the reason I was beginning to get buyer's remorse is because I haven't really enjoyed Shadow Wars much, and there's really nothing else interesting that's out or that's coming in the near future. By the time a game comes out that I actually want, there might be a price drop or a better deal. It's not necessarily the purchase of the console (I would have bought it eventually anyway) but the price I bought it at.

I tried out the 3DS at Best Buy and it didn't really wow me. Perhaps I didn't spend enough time with it, but it did let me know that I could wait. I think I'll probably jump on when the 3DS Lite comes out.

I have a bit of buyers remorse as well. I'm enjoying Ridge Racer the most but I was expecting Ghost Recon and Pilot Wings to occupy most of my time. Your wishlist is spot on, I'd be wary of depth issues with Wind Waker but Metroid and AW would be amazing. A 3DS developed Phoenix Wright game could be really interesting as well, preferably as 3DSware
