So Microsoft has purchased Skype and plans to make it available on xbox live. Could it be the end of Skype calls via the PSP? I never understood why Skype was on PSP but not PS3.

I never use Skype on my PSP anyway.
Sure, it introduced me to it, but then I switched to the computer. As long as the bastards at microshit don't charge for Skype to Skype, I'm perfectly fine with them taking it to the 360. Hell, I'll be able to annoy my only 360 owning friend more often. ^_^ |

Umm, the PSP has .WMA music support... in fact it requires a download from Microsoft before it is activated. So why would they deny Skype?

I don't think that they would end skype on other platforms. The fact that skype is on more devices than their own msn client, probably means that they will take advantage of that by still offering skype on devices other than Windows OS based devices.
Having skype puts Microsoft ahead of their competitors b/c of the network that skype has already built. There is a predicition that facebook could use skype for their own chat b/c microsoft invests in facebook. I would hope they use the Skype voice technology for the xbox b/c the voice quality would really improve. |
