Doing the same thing over and over...

This probably won't make sense if you didn't watch the Ubisoft press conference. Just curious, are we all falling for the same trap? I still think the PSP is a nifty device, though I do not own one. I just recall the PSP being shown off and everyone thinking it was going to be the next big thing, and totally crush the DS, however we all know that didn't happen, and now the majority of people don't hold the PSP in high regard. Though the Vita is tacking on a lot more bells and whistles on it, and it looks to be trying to have a solid software launch, it's literally selling the same principle in triple A games from your console, on a portable platform. I personally can't wait to pick one of these up, Uncharted, Wipeout, and the Sound Shapes game all convinced me.. this time.. it will be different. |

That's the reason I traded in my PSP for my DSi XL, though; it just plays console games on a smaller screen. DS games are so totally different from what I can get on consoles that I feel it's totally worth having.
I can appreciate that it's cool to have a portable-centric God of War or Uncharted, but as we've already seen now, some of those get re-released on PS3 anyway because they're similar enough. |

PSP was sonys first attempt. If the Vita keeps everything it promised, it will be the go-to handheld for years to come IMO

Hard to say if 3DS is a failure, back when the first DS came out everyone said that exact same thing and now look at it. Also same can be said about the PSP, what is going to make a huge difference are the games. Vita looks great but I just don't want to same issue PSP had and that was just a lack of original titles when compared to DS, PSP was stronger but it made no sense to play the PSP when PS2 or PS3 had the same title.
Only time will tell. |

People have this delusional thought process that because the PSP sold less than the DS, it was a failure.
PSP was a solid success for Sony, it has a market, and people want the next one. It doesn't have to sell more than whatever gameboy is out to be a respectable device. And the Vita is completely different, and possibly fixes all the issues of the original. Now we just need games. |
