TMK's September 2011 Pick-Ups (Anime/Gaming/Manga Obsession)
By The Mana Knight 09-30-2011 07:35 PM
I was going to wait to post this blog, but since I realized it was September 30th (wow the month went so fast), I will post my blog about this topic. Who knows what will all happen after this post because it looks like I'll be going out with a girl this weekend for lunch (unless her plans change). September was definitely a month that got me back into gaming, along with continuing to watch anime and read manga.
NIS America order of Disgaea 4 Premium Edition w/ all figures and soundtrack. I never opened up all my figures though. I did start Disgaea 4. The updated graphics are very nice. Gameplay feels exactly the same as other Disgaea games, but not a bad thing for sure.
Bandai Entertainment had a sale online, so I ended up buying Sword of Stranger, My Hime, My Otome, and Escaflowne for only $100. I watched Sword of the Stranger and loved it.
Manga purchased at the Borders in Pentagon city. These were all 60% off. I was filling up wholes in series I started collecting or just getting into some series.
DC shirts I bought at Pac Sun. PSN Cards were birthday presents from my CAG friends nightmare452 and GenDV138 when they all took me out to lunch (GNitro organized it). Future Diary 10, Purdue Football book (only $4, OMG, since I'm a Purdue Alumni), and Resonance of Fate guide all came from Borders.
Toradora! and Resistance 3. I ended up beating Resistance 3 single player. While I loved R2, R3 has my favorite single player overall. Working on co-op with Knightsdwn
I picked up these posters at Jane's Japananimation located in Greensburg, PA. Made a special stop there on my way to a funeral. The FFXIII frame was hung up right away.
Mario hoodie I found at JCPenney's while at Millcreek Mall in PA. I got Persona 3 cheap on PS2 at Sears in the same mall. Purchased Gintama cheap used along with finding a LittleBigPlanet sackboy keychain at the anime store.
More Borders pick-ups of manga filling up holes at 70% off, along with The Third Birthday guide cheap.
More Borders pick-ups of manga filling up holes at 70% off, along with Toradora! Part 2
With Amazon credit I had from my birthday and trade-ins, I got Air Gear (SAVE), K-ON! Vol. 3 blu-ray, WKC II, and GoW Origins. I finished K-ON! Vol. 3. While I enjoyed it, didn't love it as much as the earlier episodes. I finished Chains of Olympus in GoW Origins. It was an awesome game, but doesn't look amazing like Ghost of Sparda does upscaled. Started WKC II. Can't wait to play it (loved the first one), but unhappy I have to redo my skills and commands.
Picked up Ga-Rei Zero, Gundam Seed Destiny TV Movie part 4, and PS Move Heroes for $10 at GameStop. I know PS Move Heroes is mediocre, but I love the characters too much and sort of liked the demo. Being $10 was worth it to me.
While I already have a ton of Kingdom Hearts shirts, this one was so awesome that I had to buy it.
FullMetal Alchemist OVA, SMT Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Rurouni Kenshin Reflections blu-ray (already got Trust & Betrayal back in August), Eureka Seven soundtrack, and all Gundam 00 Season 2 DVDs. The Eureka Seven soundtrack/DVD was bought as a righstuf filler item (Eureka Seven is my favorite anime), but I really loved it.
Tuesday was a big day for packages getting Trigun Badlands, Ghost Hunt (SAVE), Tsubasa Chronicle (SAVE), Child of Eden, and ICO/SotC. ICO was the only thing I started. Looks amazing on PS3, and the opening theme of "You were there" is so awesome.
I know Child of Eden will probably drop price along with some others, but I had more giftcards left to use (ICO/SotC, and Ghost Hunt were free or cheap).
I found this awesome Gurren Lagann poster online (to the first movie). Bought the last one and had to frame it right away.
More posters I bought online to frame. I wanted Gundam SEED and Final Fantasy IX badly, while I went ahead and got Fate/Stay Night (another anime I liked).
Trigun was cheap on Amazon and El Shaddai I bought from DotD w/ giftcard.
I did frame these posters in September:
I like the new frame for my Hope and Snow clear posters, instead of putting them both together in a larger poster w/ white background. Only problem is I broke the first frame I bought, waste of $9.53 had me angry.
I did watch a some other anime I didn't discuss earlier in my blog. I watched Angels Beats, which I found all right, but not my cup of tea (was a bit sad). I watched D.Gray-man episodes 14-26. I found them pretty good, but not one of my very favorites. Still some parts I don't quite get. I finally decided to watch Gundam 00 season 1. It reminded me why I love Gundam so much. I was hooked on the anime after a few episodes, where I just wanted to continue watching (some Gundams do that to me). Loved the battles, story, and some of its characters were great (I really like Setsuna). I was going to watch season 2 later, but I want to watch it now. Don't be shocked if I buy a bunch of Gundam series in my next pick-up blog since my love for Gundam has returned. Streaming wise, I finished Sacred Seven. I did enjoy it overall and the end, but didn't like it as much as some other anime by Sunrise. Would buy an English release and various Sacred Seven merchandise in a heartbeat though. SKET Dance I completed 22 episodes of. Lots of episodes were funny.
That's it for my September pick-ups. October should be loaded w/ anime and games for sure.
