I Hate Uncharted 3! Why is this game getting good reviews? |

So I just finished up uncharted 3 and I have to say, I hate this game. Granted I'm not really a fan of the Uncharted series to begin with, I've played all their games and its the same cookie cutter story and play style.
I'll start off with some of the things that I did like. The Graphics and set pieces are obviously amazing, along with the voice acting, its some of the best in the industry. That is it for the good. The story is beyond cliche, this whole game literally could be the same as the previous game and nobody would notice, along with the gameplay which I think personally is repetitive and boring. There is something I noticed while playing, there are the same sequences in Uncharted 2 and 3. Train/Car scene in both games, running across crumbling bridges, Sort of a spoiler alert here but no treasure is won at the end. I really didn't enjoy this game because its platforming, shooting, and maybe a puzzle. Rinse and repeat. This entire game is SO Linear it gives me a headache. At least a game like assassins Creed allows you to climb anywhere and do whatever missions you want at your own pace. You know how uncharted 3 ends, there are no alternate endings (that I'm aware of...) no real reason to replay the game, you've seen it already and if you've played Uncharted 2 you've played it already as well. I don't know how people get off on the gameplay. This game has some of the worst sounds for shooting by far. Everytime you pick up ammo it sounds like someone biting a apple (all 3 games), the guns are unimpressive and always feel under powered. There were times I would rather have Drake realistically die because he is always fighting a ing army along with battle hardened Mercenaries/soldiers/terrorists. Is Nathan, the "treasure hunter" really a ing tank on feet? Don't even get me started on the difficulty. Back when I played uncharted 2, I played the game on hard and that was a big mistake, that game took forever because of all my deaths. Now I'm not a bad video game player at all, I'm pretty seasoned and have plenty of platinum trophies but I totally put UC3 on normal and still got killed, frequently. This games single player is only 7-9 hours depending on how many times you die.The music, well some people could call it a masterpiece, I call it uninspired. This the same prince of Persia style music you've heard. I really didn't find anything special about it, you're not going to see me listening to the Soundtrack like I would with something like Dark Souls. I think its something a little more than a matter of taste as its mainly violins and saxophones? idk what the hell I'm talking about here. LOL Unless your a fan of the multiplayer which they did a ok job on, this is something that can be skipped, maybe a rental if you wanted but I didn't enjoy it at all. It felt like work, and this isn't much of a review but more of a grammar-less rant. 6.6/10 |

You wanted "cliché", not "clique".
That's all I got. EDIT: No, wait, got something else. You HATED the game, but give it "6.6/10"? How's that work? |

The game isn't broke, well it actually glitched quite a few times but it was playable. No sense in giving it a 3.

I understand a lot of your points (difficulty spikes and enemy count), but the game was catered to those looking for a cinematic experience. Judging from your review, it just seems to me it wasn't your type of game. An open world would defeat the purpose of the game and I don't remember a train scene in UC3. If more than anything, UC3 varied up the environments and introduced you to new areas. I mean, what did you really expect? Sticking to the formula you're accustomed to is the way to go. I think you're a person who's looking for some new in every experience and UC3 wasn't that.

If it isn't your type of game after the first one, why would you play 2 and 3? I discovered a long time ago that I don't like Final Fantasy games, so I don't waste my time playing them.

I played the first Uncharted when it came with my PS3 bundle and I thought it was a decent game, nothing *amazing*. Just fun, not bad, but kind of repetitive. I picked up UC2 but haven't had time to play it yet. I'm hoping it's a better than the first. I can only speak with regards to the first Uncharted, but I never understood all the acclaim it received. Eye-popping visuals, brilliant voice acting, and nice cinematics, but - at least in my opinion - mediocre gameplay.

It's a matter of a opinion dude. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's bad though. People have different tastes in games, end of.

Wait so you're saying you don't like fighting supermen in t-shirts and jeans that can take 10 bullets to the chest and still survive?? WhAT??? But it's such a good experience!

Uncharted, Infamous and their ilk are movies with a video game shoehorned in. The upside to crappy modern gaming is that I save a lot of money.

For me, gaming does not get any better than Uncharted. I can understand why you do not enjoy the gameplay, but I personally cannot get enough of it. After finishing UC3, I seriously cannot wait for Uncharted on the Vita.
As for dying too much, it just sounds like you are not very good at the game. I played through on hard and there was only one sequence I had to attempt a number of times. Even on the hard setting, the game feels too easy to me. Getting ready for my Crushing playthrough, which will hopefully provide a little more challenge. |

@ichigo There was the same type of Car, or moving vehicle sequence is what I was implying.
The uncharted series would be great movies, but would you be able to tell the difference? What makes playing it so worth while? Your only following the button prompts and moving your character on the path that the game has provided. Peppered through the game are longer then necessarily, unrealistic shooting sessions that allow some free roam but the gameplay falls flat. I don't see how game reviewers gave this one 10's and 9's, I don't see how Uncharted 3 switched anything up. |

I think you may need to reevaluate what you are looking for. It sounds like you are looking for reality (although that can get repetitive too). All action games and movies require a suspension of disbelief. I don't get this complaint. You would never be some hero running around saving the planet, city, whatever. And video games ALL have some level of repetition. You can say that about every game. Even in a sandbox game, you are limited. I can't fly to Costa Rica in any of the GTA games. Either you really want virtual reality or reality. |

I beat UC3 on Normal difficulty and I really enjoyed UC3 and would give it a 9/10. The game reminds me of the good old Indiana Jones movies. It is a fun adventure watching characters you like go on exciting adventure. It had a lot more substance than alot of the fluff out on the market telling the backstory of Sully and Drake. The set pieces were huge in scope and added a sense of urgency such as the ship sequence. The puzzles had a few brain teasers that actually stopped to make me think on how to solve it which was refreshing instead of pushing block a to block b. Overall this game is well done and worth a play through. I also enjoyed the multiplayer. I am not a big fan of multiplayer and only enjoy those games who have co-op multiplayer which UC3 has and is done very well. I like the leveling up system where you unlock new items and earn cash to upgrade your weapons, add boosters, or character skins. There are very few games I would go back to play but UC3 is one of them and will remain in my collection.

I like your logic. You hate game, therefore everyone else in the world should hate game too.

Excect the linear momentum the game provides paces the story in correct way which is very important for a game like Uncharted. Naughty Dog didn't need to fix something that was not broken. Fans wanted those unrealistic, over-the-top sequences. In a sense, many of us respond to video games as an escape from reality. Is Ezio realistic in how he can kill all those men in combat? No.

I would believe it more so for ezio then Nathan drake, a assassin trained from his youth or a simple treasure hunter who is going to be a better mass murderer?
Someone like me who's a bit more seasoned in games and is a veteran sees things differently then someone who doesn't really play video games or is new to games is going to think this is the dopiest shit on the earth. This was only a post to see if there was agreement in this game not being worthy of a perfect rating. |

Gaming is many different things now a days and that's the beauty of the age we live in.
This is the greatest era for video gaming ever (thus far) and you have so many different types of games to choose from that it's staggering. We didn't have this type of choice back in the 8-16 bit days. One persons horse shit is another persons treasure. I personally thing that FPS's like COD and Battlefield are shit and don't understand how people can put hundreds of hours into them night after night when they suck so bad. I hate most sandbox games and think they are a waste of time. What I do like playing (recently) is a good fun game with a entertaining story that I can wrap up in 8-12 hours. The Uncharted Series fits this bill and they look gorgeous to boot. I don't need my games to be open and allow me to choose what to do and when to do it - sometimes I just want to follow a story. If I want to free roam and put in 200 hours without even sneezing in the main plot's direction I'll play Skyrim or a similar open world RPG. To each their own - we have the freedom of choice and it's ing beautiful |

Sometimes I think your trolling and not being serious about games. I remember you hated mvc3 as well for weird reasons to me.
I haven't finished Uncharted 3, but so far to me it don't feel as great as Uncharted 2 did, but maybe that will change. I'm not that far into the game. |

Then so be it. I respect your opinion, but it just seems to me you're trying to exploit the obvious. All of us know it's the most crazy, over-the-top game in which would not occur in everyday life. We just enjoy that experience. It is by no means a perfect game, but what is? Some critics are labeling it as perfect, but I can guarantee you that the majority of us can see that flaws are littered across the game. Reviews have stated the flaws you've stated in your OP, but do those flaws destroy the overarching storyline and adventure? That's up to you, but many of us would say no.
Also, I'm a bit confused why you would finish a game if you hated the series in the first place, let alone even begin it? I don't understand. |

It is really only a 5 hour game for the single player, I just died so much that it took me 8 hours.
You would get a different perspective for not paying anything vs. having dropped $60 for this title. I have no reason to defend it or be for it, and I'm not totally against it, it has good graphics and a ok multiplayer however now I'm thinking the story wasn't anything good either. You may think I'm trolling on this one but Uncharted 3 has the same flaws as a lot of other games. how many of you honestly are going to replay the single player mode? (Other then the fact to get a Platinum trophy) |
