I know, right? This is why I didn't and won't choose a 360. Anything worth playing is on another platform anyway.

I was gonna play Skyrim, the most irritating part is I'm not sure whether they will want the unit or will allow me to keep the harddrive else I'll have to start Skyrim again. I bought this to replace a 4 year old console that kept on RROD-ing, there's also not a huge amount of information on what the error codes mean online unlike the older consoles and Microsoft weren;t exactly forth-coming with offering an explanation of the error code. They said 'it could be due a service' after 2 months?!? Give me a break.

Well I was expecting the fanboys to come out, so well played there. All three of the consoles this gen have problems, but I'm sorry this happened to yours. Had a PS3 yellow light on me myself, and only a drive issue with one of my xbox 360s.

@WormFOODx - Completely agree, all have their good/bad points (the Wii less so for a person of my age/interests). Unfortunately errors are bound to happen due to the fact that companies want to make profit which means reducing costs by using lower quality components and less able technicians to test the machines before they leave the factory. My PS3 has been fine but I have been through quite a few 360s now, though this is my first of the 360 S variety. As long as I can get it exchanged without any problems I won't be too bothered, but if the retailer tries to get me to send to Microsoft for repair I will be.

I managed to get it exchanged with no bother at all, in fact it made me realise how easy it is to return items incomplete, especially if you buy things from non-specialist gaming stores, they didn't check the console over at all, I even offered to take the things out to show them that all the contents were there but they weren't bothered at all.

Besides the ylod, there really aren't any other " bad " comparisons of the Ps3 compared to the 360. Is there no usb function where you can save your progress to a flashdrive with the 360?

The 360 didn't boot at all so that wasn't an option and I don't have any friends with the slim 360 close by so that wasn't an option either. It is sod's law that I disabled the cloud save functionality the day before it decided to die!

This is why I'm glad I bought a 4gb and put a 250gb HDD in it. Atleast if it messes up I can take the HDD out before sending it in.
Never thought about it like that until now as I originally did that because I hate glossy consoles |

Never had to send in a console, but does Microsoft require the harddrive to be sent in too?

When I've sent them in previously they haven't needed the hard drive, I'm not having to return mine to Microsoft as I was able to take it back to where I bought it from.
