Okay I'm in a bind, I have no Idea what to get my chick for Valentine and I don't want to go the normal route of just buying some random gift for her. I was thinking of making her something special but I have no ideas what so ever. I searched online for Valentine ideas for gamers and couldn't find anything!
She's pretty much your normal girl, into movies, games and tv, mostly chick flicks and cutesy social games. She also plays all the stuff I do aswell, just not that much into it as I am. She would be the social gamer in the relationship as I would be the more "core" gamer so to speak. Anyways I wanna make her something neat but I just can't think of anything. Could anyone shoot me over ideas? |

I was thinking of making her like a Zelda satchel bag for her iphone. Problem is there's no tutorials online on how to make one. I was also thinking of making her a video game theme dinner, but I have no idea how to cook, let alone how to make food resemble something in a video game.

Thread didn't get you too many good answers, eh?
Whenever I'm in a bind for something like this, I go the food route. You don't have to make it resemble anything; just make some good shit. You don't know how to cook? Tough titties. You're gonna have to learn some day, and if you do this, it sends the message that you're not a bumbling manchild that needs his mom to wipe his ass. And it's not like you have to do it in front of an audience or anything; hell, you can do a trial run if you need. You live with your girlfriend? Then use a friend's kitchen. I'll start you off with some dessert, recipe shamelessly stolen from my mom. Strawberry pie with a graham cracker crust. Best pie in the ing world. Tried it with raspberries once, but it didn't work. It was alright with ice cream, I guess, but of course raspberries work with ice cream. You can buy the crust or make it yourself (bunch of nicely crushed graham crackers plus melted butter pressed into a pie pan and left to set; can be crumbly as , so buying the crust pre-made is safer). Get your ass a bunch of strawberries, throw one and a half cup worth in a blender and puree 'em. Boil them bitches up with 3/4 cup sugar, 1/3 cup water, and a couple tablespoons of corn starch. Make sure it doesn't stick to the pan.You got berries left over? You ing well better, 'cause we ain't done yet. Start cuttin' the mother ers like you owe them money but you really don't want to pay but they keep insisting and voices start climbing and they make a move but you're ready and BAM! Don't cut them real small-like, you just want a few good cross-sections from them, that's all. Put 'em in the pie crust, let the sweet-ass berry sauce cool a wee bit - just a wee bit, so it's not boiling no more - then pour it on top. Whipped cream on top of all that is optional, but recommended. Serve cold but fresh, and pray God she isn't allergic.Just... y'know, make sure she realizes that the food is the gift. Don't want to give a romantic meal and then disappoint her at the end when she's expecting something a necklace or something after the pie. And the pie is awesome, by the way. It's a glorious pie. You just need appies and main course now. Anyone else wanna contribute? EDIT: And if you really wanna theme this shit up, either arrange some left-over graham crackers or left-over cut-up strawberries to make a nice-ass triforce on top of the whipped cream. |

You want to cook for your g/f but dont know how? I'd suggest getting (any one or more of) three books:
Betty Crocker Cookbook Everyday Italian - by Giada De Laurentiis Cooking Round the Clock - Rachel Ray I believe *everybody* should have a Betty Crocker book. It teachs not only specific recipies, but also basic techniques so that you can bulid your own dishes. The other two have a large variety of simple to make, but still really tasty dishes. If you can read and follow directions, you'll be fine. But if you're that distraught about things, just get her a golden rose from ihatestevensinger.com. |

Make sure you mention to her that you repeatedly asked strangers on the internet for help on what to get her.

Aw scheisse, I forgot - you'll have to fiddle with the measurements I gave you if you're using a different sized pie plate compared to me. I dunno what size I have. Middle-ish. Normal. I guess.

Learn to make lotus origami flowers. Chicks love guys who can fold paper into cute things. It's not that difficult of a thing to do, and she won't have to worry about the flowers ever dying on her
