So I finished off Super Stardust HD (which I got free after PSN went down) and had a great time with it. It also left me with a gaming memory I won’t soon forget.

After beating the game, I decided to go back and go for the “Get 20 Bombs” silver trophy. I figured I was getting better at the game and I should get it at the end of the 3rd world (which was bad math by me, it takes until the 4th world to collect 20 bombs). Anyways, I got the trophy fairly easily and decided to keep playing to set a new high score, because now I had 20 bombs and should be able to survive a while and build up a good multiplier. So I started bombing and making my way through the 4th world with no problems. Suddenly my chain was up to 7x and then 8x! (this was the highest I had ever had it, and there is a gold trophy for getting a 10x chain that I thought would be totally unattainable for me because I'm not great at these types of games).

Of course, after realizing how close I was to 10x, the pressure started to hit. I felt myself make a couple bad decisions right away, which included wasting a couple bombs and losing my shield.

However, thanks to a couple extra bombs, a new shield power up, an excellent strategy and performance against the World 4 boss, and some careful maneuvering when getting the home stretch of 10x, I GOT IT! I was extatic!

Now one gold trophy may not sound like much (and it isn’t), but the sense of accomplishment of doing something I didn’t think I could do was a thousand times better! I’m sure we all have a few games that we remember overcoming something we never thought possible, and I won't soon forget my Super Stardust HD run!

Congrats, nice job. I love that feeling. There was a level near the end of Super Meat Boy that I must have tried several hundred times before I was finally able to get past it. Finishing that game felt like a pretty huge accomplishment after that.

Sure is, one of these days I will finally get a platinum.

@Danimal - Thanks. Unlocking The Kid (from I wanna be the Guy) in Super Meat Boy was a huge accomplishment for me.

@mitch079 - I have 5 platinums, but the only one that required any significant effort was Trine. All platinums are not made equally.

I remember that 10x trophy. As long as you know you can just take the gold laser and spin circles to kill nearly everything (even things it's not strong against), you really shouldn't have much problem with the main game.

I hear the DLC trophies are incredibly hard (just that bomber one in particular), but since I got the game free too, I never bothered getting the DLC to know.

But yeah, I know how it goes. The home stretch to the missions trophy in UMvC3 was absolutely stunning for me. I actually believe that UMvC3's platinum ranks in at least the top 3 in the world in difficulty at this point.
Congrats! I haven't been able to beat the first world in the handful of times I've played. (Also got free from Welcome Back promo)
