Mass Effect 3 CE frustrations :\

My Mass Effect 3 CE arrived from Amazon yesterday, and my excitement was somewhat diminished by a few...unusual design choices.
First, who is the genius who decided to crudely TAPE the contents into the outer sleeve? Even carefully and slowly removing the tape, there was damage to the inner cardboard box. Then I pulled the steelbook out, and the Microsoft authenticity sticker was haphazardly applied to the male Shepard side of the case (I watched a few unboxing videos and didn't see any other instances of this sticker being here, although maybe it was already removed before filming). Finally, the discs themselves were near impossible to even remove. Again being careful and slow, the struggle of trying to remove the damn things caused me to already get a couple scratches to the edge of disc 2. So yeah, really nice CE, but I'm pretty frustrated my $80 investment is already less than mint condition before I even started playing it. Is everyone else's copy like this too? |

Trim a little off spindle holder thingy. The nubs from the cast weren't "finished" manually so there is extra plastic on all 4 of the sides. I trimmed mine down with a nail clipper and the little pieces that I got smoothed up disc removal quite a bit.
I tried throwing in a dummy CD just to ease up the "action" and actually snapped a cheap CDR in half. While things got a little easier, it wasn't near enough which prompted the trimming. |

I was worried about that outer sticker when I got it, but it came off nice and easy. Maybe Gamestop put those stickers on their copies looser? Yeah the Microsoft authenticity sticker is annoying. I was going to remove it, but for collector's value, I'll leave it there.
And I COMPLETELY AGREE ABOUT THE DISCS!!! It got to the point I was afraid I'd snap the discs in half trying to get them out. While I'm heavily playing the game, I just keep the discs in loose sleeves. Once I'm done, I'll put them back in the steelbook. |

All of the same problems with mine, which I bought at Best Buy.

Thanks for the tip about using nail clippers for the plastic nubs, Mad39er.
Had the same problem and that worked like a charm... |

Thanks for the tip Mad39er. I was so frustrated with the case that I just resorted to using my AC3 steelbook to hold the other disc which wasn't in use. Now I can finally use the ME3 case again.

yeah the disc holder is annoying and yeah even carefully taking that tape off it ripped the cardboard.

Had no issue with the tape but I do have that Microsoft sticker in the same spot as you. I'm also having issues getting the discs out. I will have to du but Mad39er suggested.
