-- Gaming --
Have I not played ANY games this week? I did pick up TVSuperstars (PSMove) it was only $5 and the playthru videos on YouTube made it look decent enough. Also Splinter Cell HD, and it looks like i can't swap out my Uncharted Bundle +Controller for Resistance Bundle +Controller so I might open that tomorrow. It is nice that I officially have 4 controllers. 2 first party, 2 wired. Heck I think for Simpsons Arcade you could get by with the Arcade controller. -- Non-Gaming -- My contest google account got flagged for having a "non-name" on Google+ Sunday House of Lies 1x09 OuroborosAn ok episode and the money shot was when Marty Kaan met Jeannie's husband, utterly classic. As much as I like it and the people the show as a whole is just a whole lot of words. There's not a lot of cohesion lately. Once Upon A Time 1x15 Red-Handed Everything I've ever complained about OUAT doesn't apply here. They weren't stuck trying to tell their story within the confines of a beloved Disney movie. This left the plotline open to actual creativity. Words can't express how good it was to see Red not dressed like a slut. She actually looked better. In the real world this was one of the few episodes that didn't progress the main plotline but Red's story was good enough that it didn't matter. The whole episode was just a big thumbs up. Hon: American Dad, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show Tuesday Breaking In 2x02 Who's The BossServiceable. With the change in the cast line-up you worry whether characters will still remain the same. Here we see that Oz in spite of not being the head of the company is still in charge. Nothing far out there but it was good. New Girl 1x16 Control I'm not saying I'm Schmidt-like anal retentive but I've known people who live that dirty and I get Schmidt. I feel sort of bad for him b/c he has to put up with people who can't clean up after themselves while at the same time going thru emotional trauma with the hot model chick. Ringer 1x17 What We Have Is Worth The Pain Is there really a "Say Anything" reference in Hot Tub Time Machine? I haven't seen it in a long time. It's an odd choice to use for "Modern kids don't get original references". Hon: Cougar Town, Level Up, Ringer Wednesday Psych 6x12 Shawn and the Real GirlThe Psych-out was hilarious. Wayne Brady as the show's host was great. Psych is like an entire show inside the head of Abed only instead of TV references it's mostly 80s/90s references. This episode was mostly directly TV references which in it's own way was something new for the show. Every picture of Dule Hill on the dating show is classic. Whitney 1x20 G-Word Ugh terrible episode if only because I couldn't believe they would stoop so low. I spent the first 10 minutes thinking it was just an incredibly awkward setup for a not that funny punchline. Hon: Hot in Cleveland, Happy Endings Thursday Awake 1x03 GuiltyI was listening to DAVID BIANCULLI (TVWorthWatching.com) talk about this show on NPR's Fresh Air and while he sorta missed the comparison to the fairly obvious (in my opinion) Life on Mars? show. Which was ALSO about a detective solving crimes while living a double life (instead he compares it to Lonestar? I mean seriously? Raise your hand if you even REMEMBER Lonestar and keep it raised if you actually watched it). Anyway his major point is that the show is too complex and I agree. He also pointed out as I said that they fail to clearly distinguish the two universes. What really intrigued me is that he said (and this is after his reviewing of four episodes) that the show has sort of tipped it's hand with regards to which is the real universe. Maybe I missed something but I don't recall anything that looked more real than the other universe. I still have a problem with the psychologists the show can't last with him constantly going to psychologist (because the dept makes him go) and if he stops going we lose a big chunk of what makes the show compelling. This ep was solid and didn't try to force things which I like. That's all really. Community 3x11 Urban Matrimony and the Sandwich Arts Huh.. I was also reading an old review of Community where they pointed out that Brita doesn't have a role. It's fun to see her excel here. The Office (US) 8x19 Get The Girl I've read reviews that mention this and I agree. It's stupid to make Andy and Erin an issue. Andy is most funny when he's deliriously happy. He doesn't need to suffer like Michael did. On top of that to make him out to be a villain just feels disingenuous and not true to the character. Friday Nikita 2x16 DoublecrossIt struck me that I watch a lot of shows with hidden plot lines. This isn't the only show that has doublecrossing characters. Supernatural 7x16 Out With The Old Still peddling it's wheels and still making decent television. Not great mind you but still good. It's the small things that made it work this week, the dick jokes that are constant but just subtle enough to make it still funny. The way the bad guy was so gleefully happy to eat his boss. Saturday Young Justice 1x21 ImageAww poor Ms Martian has body issues. I was sort of pulling for her to show off her real form but oh well. See Robin was practically raised by Batman he knows all about consequences. Either I really need to rewatch episodes of Young Justice or they are clearly referencing things that didn't happen on air. Like does Kid Flash know Batman's secret identity? Have they run into Queen Bee before? As I type this I just now remember there is an official YJ comic I think. I'm almost positive an official website. There's probably all kinds of fiction that doesn't show up in the show and the fact that they feel comfortable talking about it is boss. Or I need to rewatch YJ. TMI: |

I think the reference was that John Cusack was in HTTM.
I'm torn on Ringer. It's far from my favorite show, but it does just enough to get me to watch the next episode. The prospects for a second season are bleak, so I hope they at least wrap it up somewhat nicely. |

I remember Cusack.. maybe you're right.
Dude there are SO many shows that shouldn't last longer than a season or two. Prison Break notoriously is a two season show. One to break out, one to escape. How on earth they stretched it out to 4 and a movie is beyond me. I feel this more with Awake than Ringer but you're right. It's also going to apply to Once Upon A Time. Maybe on season for everyone to remember or solve the "mystery" but after that? Maybe one season for storybrook characters to "adjust to the real world", with a wedding for a finale or something. |
