I'm just wondering; I haven't been on track with web designing since (2006 I believe when forums were really really popular).

Can anyone start me off or directing me at the right direction for making a video game news site? I like the layout for http://www.vgchartz.com/ looks clean and compact.

I'm thinking about upgrading my website www.chimeranpotroast.com so I can also name change it to Chimeran Crowd and maybe start a forums.

Anyone have an idea and budget idea to start this project? also, I may need writers soon, because a one man team is really hard.

PSPminis.com is nice too, very simple. what is it powered by?

Just some general advice:

1.) Focus on content before throwing money on a website, have you gotten positive feedback on your writing? Do you already have followers? Do you feel your material holds more value over other outlets?

2.) You want writers, can you pay them? Probably not, so you're going to take volunteers and flood your page with mediocre content. I would find friends or people you know are good and are interested in building something worthwhile together. It's very, very demanding work, good writers won't do it for free.

3.) If you're set on doing this, cheapest way is to design the site yourself, a simple blog site shouldn't be too hard to put together with some HTML/CSS, there are tutorials everywhere.

Good luck
What do you currently use?

i can't speak on VGChartz could be Joomla or something like that ModX or any number of the popular CMS.

PSPMinis is definitely WordPress. Ugh.. i got like 30 WP templates I bought once. I've never had time to develop my personal gaming site. I have such a great core concept to. Oh well maybe over the summer.

What do you recommend?
Should I stick with Blogger? or go for Wordpress?
I am very familiar with Blogger and how to set it up, but I'm not liking how its kind of simple. etc. Idk can't decide lol
