Yodobashi Camera Akihabara Sells Out of Xbox 360 Consoles |

Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara is not just a big electronics store in Tokyo, it is one of the largest (if not the largest) electronics stores in the world. I was there earlier this week and was pretty surprised to see that they had sold out of all versions of the Xbox 360 consoles. Looks like the Japanese have got Tales of Vesperia fever, which was recently released over here. There was a demo station set up inside the game department that seem to be attracting interest. Amazon Japan is also sold out of Xbox 360 consoles. Cool Yodobashi Akiba picture from this dude |

I wonder if it is also due to the recent release of the 360 Gundam game, The one Year war. I plan on picking it up when it gets released stateside, Its like battlefield, but with gundams.

I wonder why when Trusty Bell is pretty much the same type of game.
Props to Microsoft for selling out. I also wonder if you'll see a rise in used systems in a month. I heard that's what happened to the blue dragon and trusty bell bundles. |

There was definitely a ton of used Blue Dragon games on store shelves soon after release. The price dropped very quickly on that game in Japan.

ToV sold 108k units this week, beating out Blue Dragon's 82k for the best first week showing. Hardware numbers will be released tomorrow. Expect 360 to have outsold PS3 for the 2nd time ever (1st time being Ace Combat 6)

That's odd -- is there another SKU in the works or has the 360 finally caught on in Japan or have the stores just not restocked and sold what they have? Vesperia is the console seller after all this time? Are you sure Cheapy? Maybe it was a run on Madden '09...LOL!

This is good for you Cheapy because the next time you RROD you can pick up a 360 played twice buy somebody who only wanted to play Tales of Vesperia really bad.

Reminds me of a lot of people I know here in the US that couldn't give a damn about the PS3, and suddenly... MGS4!

Because Trusty Bell is a bad game of a new franchise, while Vesperia is a good game of a popular franchise. |

What I wonder is how many Japanese gamers actually keep their Xbox 360s after they beat Tales of Vesperia.

Now the Japanese will suffer the same Red Ring of Death epidemic we did.
