Double Dragon Movie Review - Good Bad Flicks

This week is the action adventure flick Double Dragon.
 Double Dragon I just returned from PAXeast and had a major hankering to do an episode on a video game movie. After Super Mario Bros this was the next live action video game movie made and it gets just about as much hate. Yes it is silly but the action scenes are good and the overall flick is very enjoyable. If more people would give it a chance I think they would like it. The DVD is easy to find and often in bargain bins. |

The use of "Beat It" made me
 I remember watching this on VHS and being so damned bored with it that I gave it to my godson. |

I Think Robert Patrick in general always plays a great villain. The Marine was pretty damn terrible, but I'll be damned if Robert Patrick wasn't the only good actor in the whole movie who was having fun with the corniness of it all.

@Ed  I'm sure your godson loved it!@MSUHitman I think the super low score also is from the time. Most movies now get hundreds of reviews which they cultivate. Back then, it only had 10 and they were all bad. @bardockkun Agreed! He was the saving grace of The Marine. While the movie was pretty poor, you could tell he was having a blast camping it up. That is one of those cases where an actor singlehandedly makes a movie bearable. @hostyl1 he had a great action career in the 90s. He was in a movie called Drive, which is one of the best action movies ever. He basically beats up like a thousand people. It's epic. |

Kristina Wagner was totally nice to look at, but we got Julia Nickson (Satori) too? Let's remember what's important in these films, people - THE BABES.

@mastagoalie - I like Alyssa, and she can be smoking hot....but I didn't like her in this movie. That short hair and those ridiculous pants just didn't do it for me. I know she's the star and all that, but it was her misfortune to be in a film loaded with babes that bury her.

@Don Yes! Wagner looked great in this. She had the best expressions. Loved her evil smirk. Julia Nickson was quite lovely too, even if they had her in some awful 90s outfits. (although not as awful as Alyssa's)
@mastagoalie I'm a big fan of Alyssa as well but I'm with Don, her hair and silly outfit almost ruined her in this. @supermodestmouse Same! I'm a sucker for martial arts flicks. I even watched the 3 ninjas series. |

wait people hate Double Dragon? (I agree this isn't Alyssa's hottest role) but I enjoyed it. it was a fun movie.

@Wolfkin yeah, it gets beat up pretty regularly for no good reason. I think people take it way too seriously.
