I was interviewed about the decline of the Japanese gaming industry in the latest issue of iNTOUCH, a magazine for members of Tokyo American Club. My slightly awkward visage appears here, and the article starts here.

You can start from the front page of the magazine here.

I like the first pic of you more, why didn't they go with that one? Regardless, the article was great.

What possessed them to just put a large awkward labeled picture of your head?

Interesting read, nice.

The Japanese market from the beginning have always wanted "good graphics" and they have achieved that throughout the gaming years. It just so happens that most of them tend to be the FF titles that has the "blue spiky hair." From a technical point of view the Japanese developers are proficient at that, but as western gamers a lot of us are now looking for that realistic look. Saturated with FPS titles with realistic visuals, we're now wanting more of those visuals across different genres. With the next gen approaching slowly we're starting to see all these different engines that will be utilized for those realistic visuals. I highly doubt that the Japanese touch of spiky pointy hair and facial features will ever go away, that's just their style. They'll have to work around the structure of the gameplay aspect ... something similar to what was done with Dragon's Dogma.

Pretty freaking cool man.
I made an account on that website just so I could download a high-res copy of that head.

I'm sorry but if I saw that cover of a magazine anywhere I would not pick it up. You don't need to put booth babes on it, but at least don't pick the smelly, homely looking nerds who sit in the back of the class.

Who thought it would be a good idea to dedicate an entire page to your face?

I am now picturing your head in one of those glass jars on Futurama.
