Quickly gaining weight. :(

Well, I seem to be having a problem with weight gain the past few months, which is starting to drive me crazy. The last time I weighed anywhere near as much was back in high school. I'm sort of trying to find a way to trim some weight.
Back in high school, my weight went as high as 158lbs where I needed to where a size 32 pants. My senior year in high school and my early college years, my weight started to drop significantly. I was down to under 130lbs. After college I gained a little weight up to 140lbs. For a while my weight was around the mid 130's at the most (pants size of 29-30). Ever since I moved back to Maryland and changed jobs, my weight has been going up. I first noticed my weight increase when I jokingly weighed myself on a package scale, where it said I weighed 143lbs. When I got home, I checked the scale and saw I was over 142lbs. What are reasons I could be gaining weight? Well, I'm no longer constantly on my meet moving around at my current job like my last one. I haven't ridden my bike in a while due to having a flat tire. It's not winter time where I snowboard and participate in Winter activities. I haven't full court basketball games since Summer. Another problem is that I have more food than I probably should at home, where I'll eat a lot of white bread, Pillsbury breads (like crescent rolls), white cupcakes from Safeway once a week, fast food 2-4 times a week (I've even gotten fast food at lunch for work at times since I'm nearby places), etc. My soda intake has remained the same. My metabolism might have slow down since I reached 30 years old, but I really hope that's not the case. I also don't have an exercise facility at my apartment community, but I never once used it. What makes me want to drop weight so bad? I want to stay thinner because I'll fit into cosplay costumes better, and I think being skinnier just looks better for my cosplaying. I prefer being able to wear the same clothes I've been wearing for a long time (mostly pants). I just don't want much weight on myself since I have way too many relatives/family members who are overweight. I personally feel at my height, weighing over 135lbs is too much unless I'm some massive body builder. Winter time should help me out because I can get more active. I need to get around to getting my bike tire fixed so I can bike. I would like to workout sometime, but I rarely have enough time and I lack any equipment at home. While I can sprint, I cannot run for long distances too well. My main goal is to at least keep my weight under 140lbs for a long time. |

I think being skinnier just looks better for my cosplaying. not trying to insult you b/c I've never seen your cosplay but that's probably true.
surprised there are so few comments that just say "stop eating chicken nuggets/tenders" But honestly it sounds like you've got a wealth of advice here. Just realize that a lot of weight gain has to do with taking in more calories than you use. Possible that's just what's happening to you now. Least you have time to work out. I've been effectively stuck since summer. Don't have time for reading, gaming, or working out, and my cousin owns a gym :shake: |
