Jukebox: Front Panel - Return of the Template II

Not much progress today. I rough cut the openings for the monitor and the speakers. With the tools I have it took me a while to figure out how I'm going to cut each of these openings with 1/4" radius corners. I think I've worked it out - we shall see tomorrow when I try to clean this mess up.

More updates tomorrow.

Thats pretty sick. Did you make the middle piece also or was it donated from a old juke box. definitely gonna be cool after its finished but will it play doom?

Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by "middle piece" but everything you see so far was made entirely out of scrap MDF I had laying around in my garage left over from other projects... so, no it wasn't donated from an old jukebox.

It isn't going to play Doom but the plan is for it to double as a digital picture frame and play point and click games like poker, bejeweled, mahjong, etc. Basically anything you can play with a mouse only.

It is going to be mostly black. The front will be black plexiglass and the sides/curve will be wrapped in black laminate. I am probably going to put some sliver trim around the edges to match the color of the volume knob (and hide some seams). The speaker grill will also be silver. I don't think I'm going to use any LEDs on this project although I am toying with the idea of adding some for a glow effect behind the speaker grill.

Thanks! I'll try to accomodate - that's the goal this week but it is not going to be easy.

Tonight I'll be cleaning up the rough cuts I made last night (MONDAY). Next, I have to make sure all of the openings are exactly how I want them to be which will require some minor sanding and then glue the plexiglass to it (TUESDAY). Once the glue is dry I have to flush cut the plexiglass to exact size and then put the 1/8" bevel around the edge (WEDNESDAY). Finally, I can begin removing the material behind ther plexigless to mount the screen - this will take at least a couple of nights.

I think I have many more hours to go before the screen will be completely mounted. I'm working on it though! Once that is done the rest of the project should go together a bit faster.
