Hey I'm back to my blog. I didn't realize it, but I took almost 2 months off. That was never my intention.
I moved. Yup from the Boston area to Orlando, FL. Everything came together really fast. I didn’t really get to do a proper send off to friends and family. We had to move out of Mass, fly down to Orlando, move into temporary housing, find a place to live, get the kids enrolled in school in about 2 weeks. It was pretty rough. We are living in a 3 bedroom apartment in one of those planned community (they call it New Urbanism). It's a bit Stepford-wives-ish. Everything is super planned out, but they have great schools and everything is within 2 minutes (schools, grocery store, gas station, drugstore, etc...). I find it odd with all the planning that went into the community it has this huge power plant in the horizon (think The Simpson's Springfield). I should take a picture. It’s a pretty big adjustment going from house to apartment along with moving from New England to Florida. The kids are handling it very well; I’m trying. I’m just not used to apartment living it’s been 10 years since I’ve lived in one. One of the good things so that we live above a great Italian restaurant and the owners are all from Mulberry Street (NY Little Italy). Some days it looks like Satriale’s, I keep on expecting to see Paulie Walnuts and Christopher sitting outside smoking. Next blog will be about what I've been playing...you can't wait can you? |

Job relocation? How old are the kids? I've got to buy a new house soon but I don't want to move far since I like the neighborhood. Do you know people in FL? That's a big change of scenery. Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah, I went for work. My kids are 8 and 5. The 5 yr old is starting school for the first time. They both have been loving it. We have some cousins not too far away, but not any immediate fam.

Yeah, I don't think we met I was a recluse for the most part. I hear you about the humidity. It's hot and sticky everyday during summer, but when winter comes I should be able to wear T-shirt and shorts...and not have to shovel. btw, Conan has been fun!

With the power plant in the horizon; I assume you may be living in the Avalon Park area. I used to live in Stoney Brook off of Alafaya. All new planned communities with a stinky water treatment center and power plant for decoration. I know that Avalon used to want the smokestacks painted. Good area though.

Yeah got it, Avalon it is. It's really nice but trafficky as all hell. My kids love it which is most important. I'm sure the winter will be a lot easier to handle than back in Boston.

Yeah, Alafaya sucks in the morning with traffic. They really need to four lane it. It's a nice area and I hope you enjoy it.
Here's a couple food choices: Chicken Wings- Gators Dockside (get breaded). Lake Underhill and Alafaya. Pizza- Goodfella's. Alafaya and 50 (in Publix shopping center) There is a place called Boston's on Aloma Ave. that my wife loved that has all types of seafood. She loved the lobster bisque. (Maybe this place will remind your family of Boston). |
