Saint's Row 2 Via Cheap-Assery

I have a brand new copy of Saint's Row 2 on the way to me for $39.71. Here's how I did it:

I had it in my rental queue at Gamefly and made sure I had an open slot in my rentals (I'm on the two-games-at-a-time plan) on Sunday. Last night (Monday) I received the notice that Saint's Row 2 had shipped to me. So I went to Gamefly and hit "Keep It." Because I've been a Gamefly member for more than 12 months, I get 10% off any game purchases, even if they're games that have *just* released. Every 3 months I get a $5 off coupon, and I'd saved this one for just this instance.

$46.99 - Gamefly "Keep It" price
+$2.42 - Tax
+$0.00 - Shipping
-$4.70 - Loyalty level 3 (10% off)
-$5.00 - Coupon
=====
$39.71 - Total

That's not half bad, compared to $59.99 plus tax at standard retail. It's shipped from Tampa, and I'm in Orlando, so I expect I should have the game tomorrow (Wednesday), with the box and documentation coming probably Thursday or Friday.

This site has inspired me to find new and better ways of saving money on my games, and Gamefly is awesome for this sort of thing. My next cheap-ass trick will be using the $25 gift card I earned from E-Rewards toward my purchase of Fable II at Gamestop. Between those and the 360 Elite I just received today from Dell.com, it's a good month for me with gaming deals.

That's how I get all new release games if there isn't a better deal (unless GameFly doesn't have them). I love that the shipping center is in Tampa so I get the games in one day (I live in Clearwater).

Why didn't you try it out first before purchasing it? What happens if you get it and absolutely hate it and the game bombs. No one wants ETC.

ShinAkumA21: I most definitely plan on getting me some of those BIG ASS CHAINS!

Codemaster: Gamefly's awesome, especially when you live near the distribution center like we do.

Layziebones: Several reasons... There's no way I won't love Saint's Row 2. My fiancee's a Saint's Row 1 fan, so she'll be playing a bunch of this one, too. It'll be something we'll be into for a long time, so it makes sense to buy it on the cheap, as opposed to tying up a rental slot and wasting money like that. Also, I needed a free rental slot so that I can have Dead Space sent to me this week. Buying SR2 freed up the slot for me.
