I went to use the $10 off $50 coupon at Toysrus.com today. I looked through their clearance stuff and found a few things on sale like 25%-50% off, so I figured it'd be worthwhile to stack them up and take the $10 off, even with shipping and tax. Boy was I wrong.

Shipping for a $35 item clearanced to $20 = $11.50
Add another $5 item, shipping = $13.50
Add a third item to get it to $50, shipping = $18.50

This is STANDARD (3-7 day) shipping on board game size boxes. Amazon ships that stuff for FREE! Good lord TRU. What the christ is going on? For $18.50 the package should be in my hands by tonight, not 3-7 days (and it can be here tomorrow morning for only $51.60!)

What on earth is wrong with them? How do they calculate these shipping prices? They are absolutely ludicrous. I can buy this stuff from the manufacturer at MSRP and get it shipped to my apartment cheaper than these clearance items at Toysrus.com with a coupon. Absolutely asinine.

i gave up on TRU a long time ago. horrible service, broken site and terrible shipping/handling. nothing i get from their site ever arrives in good shape.

Yeah, it's really shitty. they had some super cheap board games like a year ago that I bought and even after shipping it was still a decent deal. I can't imagine why anyone would buy anything from them at full price what that shipping, though. Super shitty.

I agree they price the shipping a bit high. I almost bought some Lego on the B2G! but they wanted $20 for shipping. I didn't bother. I know the price of shipping is going up due to oil prices, but still I think it's very much inflated.

That's a lot of money. If shipping is too high online, I say forget it too.

Yeah, their site is terrible, but they do have excellent clearance and B2G1 and other deals in their stores, so I can't hate them too much.

Plus, if they go away, we'll have to explain to our children what a "toy store" was.
