Are you man enough to get a pedicure?

![]() At the outset this blog post may not be geared towards the younger CAGs on the site. And yes I do know that I may be setting myself up for constant flaming but I just wanted to throw this question out there: Are you comfortable enough/care enough about your hygiene and appearance that you would get a manicure or pedicure? Well, I got my second pedicure on Saturday nite with my "FWB" and I gotta say that getting a pedicure is so relaxing. My feet have never felt or looked this good. I got my first manicure a couple of weeks ago and that also was great. The nail technician told me that I was overdue apparently....27 years overdue for that matter. Note: the pedicure did not include fish. I mean do we CAGS not care about our appearance that we would totally shun a little upkeep on ourselves? I know some of you may say this is "gay" but keep an open mind. I know that as a young professional I try to maintain my appearance by going to the gym, cutting my hair at a salon, buy clothes for work and make sure they are maintained, drycleaned and the tie always matches the shirt, and shine your shoes. You do know that shoes are the first thing women look at it and you can tell a lot about a man by the shine of his shoes. I assume that some of us spend money on clothes and not just games? Right? I think that us CAGs should have a little vanity and take care of ourselves and try to break free from that misconception that we are all just social misfits who are maladjusted and live with their parents. Nowadays it is chic to be nerdy but just make sure your not that the 40 year old virgin. Lastly, I dont think I would have gone to get the manicure/pedicure on my own but going with Carol made it that much easier. Heck I even read the latest Game Informer and played with my iphone the whole time so it cant be that bad right? |

Actually, for the record:
Pedicure is ok. It is NOT gay because feet can look TORE UP since we are always on them all day..and they get rough and just..look a mess :( Manicure, however, IS pretty gay for a guy to get. Just cut your nails like normal and you're fine. Use a hand lotion a few times a week for added bonus. |

Why is it always the judgmental, straight dicks that deem what's "gay" and what isn't? Pedicures and manicures are only gay if you're giving another man a handy during it, otherwise it is a simple service.
I'm so sick of seeing the word "gay" used in a derogatory fashion. For farks sake, expand your vocabulary a little, mouth-breathers. |

If lilboo says it's gay, it must be true.

@ liboo- agree that the manicure was unnecessary that's why I didn't do it during the second go around. I'm not a construction worker so my hands are in generally good shape.

What guy doesn't use 'hand lotion' a few times a week?

manicures are actually NOT unnecessary for men. I went to a seminar last year on jobs in the tech industry, and they said my resume and appearance was nice, but they actually suggested a local manicurist to me. They said that when you hand someone any sheet of paper, be it a resume or a report, they will look at your hand, and if it is not well manicured, they will subconsciously judge your status. Well manicured men applying for executive positions are 15% more likely to get the job, and that's NOT gay.

I have never myself gotten either a manicure or a pedicure, but I can tell you - when I'm out on sales calls with the sales team, their hands are impeccable. I do my best to keep my finger/toe nails all nice, but I looked like some kind of savage next to those guys.
On to the question of 'if I'm man enough'. I wouldn't have any problems or reservations about getting perhaps an annual manicure, but my feet are so damn tickle-ish that I don't think I'd be able to handle a pedicure. @DesertEagleXIX Love the hand lotion comment |

@TexCub - gay isn't as derogatory as lets say, $$$$$$. gay is just a general use word now. i have nothing against men who have feminine habits but manicures/pedicures are up there with leg waxing, eye brow plucking and facials (unintended - i know some people are laughing).

@ sean nola. Agreed. I have seen some terrible looking hands and it definetely important to have a nice clean and near appearance when doing anything busines related.

I don't really consider pedicures gay, but since I'm always wearing shoes I don't see the point. I have better uses for my time/money anyhow. And those uses are videogames.

I had one once at my sister's urging. My stance on them remains mostly apathetic. I woudn't consider a pedicure up there with say eyebrow arching or a bikini wax or makeup. Unless you have a weekly appointment. Then you just have a problem.
