In case you hadn't heard, videogame publisher Midway is going through some tough financial times. Upper management brought this on themselves with release upon release that the reviews remarked felt like they were rushed out the door before they were ready. So why should we as a community try to save them?

Besides some good people in the Chicago area losing their jobs, I'm concerned about the consolidation going on in the videogame industry. I don't want the only 3rd party publishers to be Activision and EA. We need a variety of game producers from all over bringing diversity of attitudes, talent, business practices, and competition.

Older discounted titles aren't going to help their bottom line now so if you're going to buy a retail game buy 'Mortal Kombat Versus DC Universe.' The quickest way to put money in their coffers is to buy some downloadable games on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Not advocating you buy something you don't like but just consider their titles:

Championship Sprint
Defender
Gauntlet
Rampage World Tour

Root Beer Tapper
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
