Since you probably missed it, 1up was testing out their first live video feed on Ustream earlier today as people on the staff played Soul Calibur IV before things wound down to nerf gun shooting and a good round of Robocop on the Xbox that mimicked a great episode of Broken Pixels. The reason for this test is to get ready for their new live video show, called GameNight, that will be kicking off on Tuesday evening at 5 PM PST.

The debut episode will be about Killzone 2, possibly as a follow-up to their popular recent preview, with David Ellis and Tina playing the game live while also talking about the show. So if you want to see the game in action, or you want to see more of Tina, you should check it out at:

This would be a great tool for some of their other podcasts, like LAN Party or 1up Yours, that would benefit from a video form to help make those shows even better. They've filmed portions or full episodes of those shows, so they're not strangers to that kind of thing.

Thanks for the heads up Frisky! Why haven't I heard anything about this on any 1up podcast is boggling my mind....

This sounds an awful lot like ScrewAttack's recently launched show, Out of the Box

It's pretty odd that a huge company like Ziff Davis would be using Ustream and not their own infrastructure. Guess they don't want to put any money into this show.

Used to be a huge fan of 1UP's audio and video podcasts but too many of the good people aren't on air anymore, either because they left or have taken on different roles. I miss the regulars on the EGM podcast like Dan, Jen, and Brian. Now were left with Shane, whom I despise, and the formats are all different.

Dropped the 1UP Show video podcast because the fake behind-the-scene encounters were worse then college TV. Still listen to the 1UP Yours audio podcast, but it's usually the last in my que of podcasts.

Cheapy, Ziff doesn't want to put money into anything. It is just a matter of time before EGM is online only.

The 1Up site has always been pretty horrendous when it comes to their hosting services.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was spearheaded by the 1Up staff themselves - hence the Ustream usage.

I'll definitely check it out. I've always thought The 1Up Show is about the best videogame show out there.

i was there last night. it was fun.

btw Cheapy, i'm not sure why you're so harsh about it. i think they're just messing around with it. it doesn't seem like a regular feature. besides, Ziff is pretty poor.

Jest: Because it's a last-minute thing that they've put together. It's not going to be a huge production or anything like Cheapy suggests, just a quick and dirty way to get the community involved and show off some of the games they have to play.
