Tecmo Bowl vs Madden 92

I had a great game of Tecmo Bowl, this is probaly the first time I've played the game in 15 years. I visited my cousing last night and he happened to have the game on the Wii's Virtual Console. He was even kind enough to break open his brand new Classic controller for the festivities.
I haven't played this game in over 15 year, and granted when Tecmo Bowl was at its height of popularity, I was not a fan of football, and even then I rarely played it. So for me to play Tecmo Bowl today, I had to basically relearn the controls (All two buttons)
Now a couple of years (Maddens) ago, I had the oppotunity to replay Madden 92. This game holds a special place in my heart, as it is the game that introduced me to the sport of football. I played about half a quarter of Madden 92. Luckily I got one player injured, and got to see the ambulance murder about 10 players on the field, just to save one. But my experience with Madden 92 was saddening, as I found that this game did not stand the test of time. I walked away wondering how I was ever able to play the game.
Playing Tecmo Bowl today, was extremly refreshing. Tecmo Bowl to my surpise has stood the test of time and is still fun to play. It's about throwing the ball to the open receiver, and running at the right angles to avoid tackes. Tecmo Bowl takes very basic football tactics, and makes a fun but very simple football experience. If you perform these basic tactics well in Tecmo Bowl then you'll have success.
