Not your ordinary rant related to Tom Nook

DISCLAIMER: I don't know how spoilery this post is, but it concerns the Nook store upgrades in Animal Crossing: City Folk, just to warn ya.
*** *** *** Can somebody please tell me why I now have a Nookington's in my town?! On Sunday, the town notice board said that Nookway would be closed for remodeling. Last night, Jidoor had a brand-spanking new Nookington's, though it was closed. I'll make my first visit there today. The requirement to get Nookington's (the fourth and last of the Tom Nook store iterations) in Wild World was not only to have a certain astronomical amount of Bells spent in the store, but to also have had a visitor from another town buy something there. For this reason, I never got Nookington's in Jacole. In Jidoor, I've been surprised by how quickly I've been getting the Nook store upgrades, especially considering that my spending at Nook's Cranny/Nook n' Go/Nookway has been about the same as it was in WW and that I currently have only about 2,500 Nook Points. Not only that, but I haven't had a single visitor to Jidoor, though I did visit another town and bought something in their Nook store. In short, I should not have gotten any one of these upgrades - Nook n' Go, Nookway, and Nookington's - this easily. This is a prime example of what I mean when I say that AC:CF is dumbed down. I can't help you, I just thought it was cool that you named your town after a city in FFVI.

My Wild World town was named after one from FFV. I wanted to use another FFV town name with City Folk, but couldn't find one I liked, so I went with FFVI's Jidoor.
At this rate, the town in the next Animal Crossing I play (if a good one comes out in the distant future) will be named Junon |

you don't have to have someone come to your nook's & buy something in order for it to upgrade in city folk. and if you want one of the old nook stores back he will ask you one day so if you ever want to revert back to a old store its available

though I haven't played AC:CF yet I do know in the original this happened to me also. No one ever visited my town. I miss one day and come back and there is a Nookington's. I really wish I had the time to play AC again, one of the best game concepts ever.

That was one of the main gripes most reviewers had with AC:CF - they did, in fact, "dumb it down" to make it appeal to a more casual audience. Silly, huh?

mrs. shipwreck: Yep. One of the few Nintendo franchises which you'd think they would never, or could never, make more "casual"... and they find a way to do it.
I can't wait to see what they do for Endless Ocean 2. |
